{"id":812870,"date":"2024-12-18T22:14:25","date_gmt":"2024-12-19T04:14:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2024\/12\/18\/earthworks-firm-hails-significant-growth\/"},"modified":"2024-12-18T22:14:25","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T04:14:25","slug":"earthworks-firm-hails-significant-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2024\/12\/18\/earthworks-firm-hails-significant-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"Earthworks firm hails \u2018significant growth\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" src=\"https:\/\/emap-romulus-prod.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/07\/Money-cash-finance-calculator-accounts-financial-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"Money cash finance calculator accounts financial\"  ><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Earthworks specialist ZTL Contracting has grown its turnover by two-fifths, according to its latest filing.<\/p>\n<p>The Middlesbrough-registered firm &#8211; which also has offices in Wakefield &#8211; posted revenue of \u00a319.5m for the six months to the end of April this year.<\/p>\n<p>This equated to a 41 per cent increase, on a month-for-month basis, from \u00a327.6m in the full year to 31 October 2023.<\/p>\n<p>ZTL shortened its latest accounting period to switch its year-end date to 30 April, which is in line with parent company Applebridge.<\/p>\n<p>It posted pre-tax profit of \u00a31.73m for the six-month period, which is a 17 per cent fall on a month-by-month basis compared to the \u00a34.20m achieved in the previous full year.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, directors hailed &#8220;a period of significant growth&#8221; that they said &#8220;exceeded our strategic target of a 10 per cent increase in turnover against 2022\/23 accounts&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>They said this rise in income was due to key relationships with developers, councils and &#8220;Midlands-based tier one contractors associated with large-scale logistics warehousing&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Directors credited the company&#8217;s profit margin to the development of commercial strategies that left ZTL in &#8220;the enviable position&#8221; of not suffering a single loss-making month in the latest period.<\/p>\n<p>The contractor is now aiming to grow turnover by a tenth in its next full-year results, with strategies including a new Midlands office, selective tendering and boosting capital projects.<\/p>\n<p>It said it continued to invest in plant and technology.<\/p>\n<p>ZTL also said it had a &#8220;clear emphasis on investing in youth&#8221; and that education and training were &#8220;absolute necessities&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Directors said they looked to the current financial year with &#8220;cautious optimism&#8221; and were &#8220;optimistic&#8221; that diverse revenue streams and careful commercial controls left the business &#8220;well placed to see out&#8221; a challenging environment &#8220;likely to last until the end of 2025&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/sections\/news\/earthworks-firm-hails-significant-growth-17-12-2024\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Greg Pitcher<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Earthworks specialist ZTL Contracting has grown its turnover by two-fifths, according to its latest filing.
