After failing to land an NFL head coaching job during last year\u2019s hiring cycle, Bill Belichick is headed to the college football ranks. He\u2019s the new head coach at the University of North Carolina, according to multiple reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n Why is this news relevant to the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>? Well, there was thought that the Birds might hire him to replace Nick Sirianni after 2024. Thought that was rooted in the Eagles reportedly showing some interest in Belichick<\/strong><\/a> before the Eagles decided to retain Sirianni despite the team\u2019s historic collapse at the end of 2023.<\/p>\n Sirianni has obviously rebounded since last year\u2019s rough finish with the Eagles winning nine straight games to advance to an 11-2 record with four regular season games left to play. Barring another tailspin and\/or a first-round blowout playoff loss, Sirianni seems poised to return for 2025. So, it\u2019s not like Belichick seemed to really be in play anymore anyway.<\/p>\n But there was also some thought that Belichick could land elsewhere in the NFC East. Mike McCarthy\u2019s contract is up at the end of this season and Brian Daboll is very much on the hot seat. If the Dallas Cowboys<\/a> and\/or New York Giants<\/a> end up looking for a new head coach, they won\u2019t be hiring Belichick.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
