{"id":811660,"date":"2024-12-11T22:12:32","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T04:12:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2024\/12\/11\/turnover-and-profit-soar-at-family-run-me-firm\/"},"modified":"2024-12-11T22:12:32","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T04:12:32","slug":"turnover-and-profit-soar-at-family-run-me-firm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2024\/12\/11\/turnover-and-profit-soar-at-family-run-me-firm\/","title":{"rendered":"Turnover and profit soar at family-run M&#038;E firm"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/emap-romulus-prod.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/12\/Electrician.jpg\"   alt=\"Electrician.jpg\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Mechanical and electrical (M&#038;E) specialist Dodd Group has reported double-digit percentage increases in revenue and pre-tax profit.<\/p>\n<p>In its latest accounts covering the year to 31 March 2024, the Shropshire-based family firm \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/cn-intelligence\/data-dashboards\/cn100-turnover-profit-and-margin-23-08-2024\/\">ranked 82<sup>nd<\/sup> in the CN100 2024 table<\/a> \u2013 saw turnover grow by 21 per cent from \u00a3206.7m to \u00a3249.4m.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the firm\u2019s pre-tax profit soared by 78 per cent to \u00a36.3m, delivering a margin of 2.5 per cent compared with 1.7 per cent the year before.<\/p>\n<p>Dodd\u2019s client base includes tier one firms such as Galliford Try, Kier, Tilbury Douglas and Wates.<\/p>\n<p>Directors said the firm\u2019s construction division \u201ccontinued to secure sizeable schemes with select main contractors across all regions\u201d, targeting projects in the education, defence, justice and health sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Dodd\u2019s property services division \u201csaw considerable growth\u201d after being restructured into four sub-divisions, including a focus on retrofit, building services and decarbonisation.<\/p>\n<p>The accounts also noted that the firm has long-term contracts to provide planned maintenance and infrastructure services at multiple Ministry of Defence facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe consistent revenue stream from the planned maintenance element of these frameworks continues to be supplemented by additional project work secured through our permanent presence on the bases,\u201d directors said.<\/p>\n<p>In the utilities sector, Dodd secured \u201csignificant repeat business\u201d through long-term telecoms and water frameworks, they added.<\/p>\n<p>Dodd remained free of bank loan debt and its cash reserves grew from \u00a338m to \u00a350.6m.<\/p>\n<p>The firm paid out a dividend of \u00a3500,000 for the second consecutive year.<\/p>\n<p>It employed an average of 1,117 staff in its past financial year, up from 965 a year earlier.
