The Alton Road quarry will supply sand to the local market, as well as GRS bagging plants west of London, and take in inert <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/search\/demolition?utm_source=tci_news&#038;utm_medium=auto_keyword_link\" title=\"Search for suppliers of Demolition\" target=\"_blank\">demolition<\/a> and excavation wastes to restore and landscape the site.<\/p>\n<p>With an operational lifespan of more than 10 years, the partners see the site as suitable for recycling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/search\/demolition?utm_source=tci_news&#038;utm_medium=auto_keyword_link\" title=\"Search for suppliers of Demolition\" target=\"_blank\">demolition<\/a> and excavation waste, and materials that cannot be recovered will be used to restore the 36-hectare landscape (subject to planning permission).<\/p>\n<p>GRS chief executive Jon Fisher, said: \u201cWe have been working with the team at DTE for a while so forming a JV is a natural next step for both businesses. It gives us a foothold in this part of the southeast and a strong platform for growth, with the potential to turn construction spoil into new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/search\/aggregate?utm_source=tci_news&#038;utm_medium=auto_keyword_link\" title=\"Search for suppliers of Aggregate\" target=\"_blank\">aggregate<\/a> in line with our vision to accelerate circularity in construction.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"adid2451\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/redirect\/campaign\/12627\/\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/redirect\/campaign\/12627\/\" title=\"Related Information\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\" alt=\"Related Information\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/assets\/adverts\/22547-1730456330-Construction-1-and-2-website-leaderboard-01.gif\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>Down To Earth Developments owner Ben Maclean said: \u201cWe\u2019re proud of our track record in land reclamation and recovery, and we have the expertise, experience and management systems to deliver exemplar schemes. Getting together with GRS is a massive boost to the development and remediation of the Alton Road site and we\u2019ll be working with the local community, councils and agencies to ensure that restoration is to the highest standards for the benefit of people and wildlife alike.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While originally a supplier of virgin aggregates and stones \u00a0for the construction industry, GRS is increasingly meeting the UK\u2019s demand for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/search\/aggregates?utm_source=tci_news&#038;utm_medium=auto_keyword_link\" title=\"Search for suppliers of Aggregates\" target=\"_blank\">aggregates<\/a> with secondary materials made from inert wastes. These include Enviroc granite, a by-product of mining for china clay in Cornwall and Devon.<\/p>\n<p>Last year GRS formed a joint venture with Devon-based secondary materials specialists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/news\/view\/grs-dives-into-ocean\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ocean Blocks &#038; Aggregates<\/a>.
