{"id":642646,"date":"2023-04-28T22:06:00","date_gmt":"2023-04-29T03:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.sellorbuyhomefast.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/28\/lendlease-europe-boss-to-exit-after-four-year-stint\/"},"modified":"2023-04-28T22:06:00","modified_gmt":"2023-04-29T03:06:00","slug":"lendlease-europe-boss-to-exit-after-four-year-stint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/28\/lendlease-europe-boss-to-exit-after-four-year-stint\/","title":{"rendered":"Lendlease Europe boss to exit after four-year stint"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ca.emap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2017\/08\/Lendlease_Athletes-Village-and-International-Quarter_3-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Lendlease Athletes Village and International Quarter 3\"  >        <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Lendlease has revealed its Europe chief executive Neil Martin will step down in October after four years in the top job.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The news comes just two weeks after the division <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/lendlease-europe-announces-230m-loss-13-04-2023\/\">reported a \u00a3230m annual pre-tax loss<\/a>.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In an announcement on its website, Lendlease said Martin had \u201cdecided to retire\u201d, adding that the group&#8217;s search for a replacement will \u201cbegin soon\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Australia-headquartered company did not disclose what Martin\u2019s plans are after he leaves and a spokesperson did not respond when asked by <em>Construction News<\/em>.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Martin&#8217;s exit come after more than 20 years with the global contractor. His construction career began at Bovis in 1990 as a site engineer before leaving to complete law qualifications. He later joined Kier as a construction lawyer then returned in 1999 as Bovis was acquired by Lendlease.<\/p>\n<p>His time at Lendlease included a five-year stint working at the firm\u2019s headquarters in Sydney, before he was appointed Europe boss in 2019.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lendlease global chief executive Tony Lombardo, who was appointed in 2021, said: \u201cNeil has done an exceptional job in building a strong leadership team, and we\u2019ll be announcing his successor in due course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin said: \u201cI would like to thank all of the incredibly talented and hard-working colleagues who\u2019ve supported me throughout my career and I\u2019m extremely proud of what we\u2019ve achieved together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lendlease Europe\u2019s \u00a3230m annual loss for the year to 30 June 2022, announced this month, included \u00a3114m set aside for remediation work in the wake of the post-Grenfell building-safety crisis. However, the company said much of this was inherited from its acquisition of Crosby Homes in 2005 and it no longer owned the 56 affected buildings.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Europe division\u2019s loss was largely blamed on the Lendlease global group reporting an AU$141m loss for the first half.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lendlease was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/lendlease\/lendlease-among-11-firms-facing-public-work-ban-14-03-2023\/\">one of 11 developers to initially miss the deadline to sign the government\u2019s remediation contract<\/a> agreeing to fix high-rises it has worked on in the past 30 years.
