Network Rail has launched a search for contractors to carry out \u00a33.5bn of infrastructure and capital works in its Eastern Region.<\/p>\n

Tender documents have been published for the Eastern Routes Partnership (ERP) by Network Rail Infrastructure. The framework is initially due to run for five years, with a two-month mobilisation period. However, it may be extended by Network Rail for a further five years.<\/p>\n

The tender has been split into four lots, with the largest \u2013 worth over \u00a31bn \u2013 covering buildings and civils. Other high-value lots include \u00a3852m for signals and a \u00a3497m lot for distribution and plant. Lots have also been split into generalist contact works and specialist works.<\/p>\n

According to Network Rail, the ERP is part of an \u201cecosystem across the Eastern Region\u201d which may include arrangements for small schemes as well as reactive works and alternative options for standalone multidisciplinary enhancements and\/or major projects or programmes.<\/p>\n

Network Rail has also included a \u201cpain-gain incentive mechanism\u201d in the tender, which means that those engaged to work on the projects will be rewarded if they complete works at a lower cost than the project\u2019s target costs.<\/p>\n

The \u00a3852m general signalling and telecoms lot covers the main bulk of signalling work, which includes works such as interlocking & NX panels works, re-wire and life extension, alteration to solid state interlockings for any new trackside works, level crossing works, transmission works, intelligent infrastructure installations and alterations to signalling power supplies. A second specialist signalling lot is valued at \u00a388m.<\/p>\n

The \u00a3362m generalist contact systems lot includes structure renewal and refurbishment, AC\/DC contact systems works overhead Line Equipment (OLE) campaign changes (rectification of known issues) as well as mid-life refurbishment, re-wiring, survey and drone works and tunnel renewals.<\/p>\n

When it comes to distribution and plant, the \u00a3497m lot includes works for HV traction distribution works, substation renewals, signalling power works, lighting and LV distribution works, operational, yard and tunnel lighting.<\/p>\n
