\n\tThe comic performance artist and writer Rob Madge (My Son\u2019s a Queer, (But what can you do?)<\/em>) will play Tinker Bell.<\/p>\n\n\tPeter Pan<\/em>\u00a0will run at the Palladium from December 9-January 14.<\/p>\n\n\tLast year, Harrison booked Saunders\u2019 longtime comedy partner Dawn French\u00a0(The Vicar of Dibley, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Death on the Nile<\/em>) to play the title hero\u2019s mother in\u00a0Jack and the Beanstalk<\/em>\u00a0at the Palladium. \u201cSo Jennifer knows what she\u2019s in for,\u201d Harrison said, followed by guffaws of laughter.<\/p>\n\n\tSaunders recently appeared on London stages as Madame Arcadia in Noel Coward\u2019s Blithe Spirit<\/em>. It was directed by Richard Eyre, who also directed her in the film\u00a0Allelujah<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s very lavish, spectacular,\u201d said Harrison, noting that last year audiences talked about the size of the beanstalk in\u00a0Jack and the Beanstalk<\/em>\u00a0that soared upstage. \u201dWell, this year they\u2019ll be talking about our crocodile! Yes, there\u2019ll obviously be a crocodile. It\u2019s\u00a0Peter Pan<\/em>\u00a0at the Palladium, it\u2019ll be very over the top.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\tThe big croc will be created by Twins FX.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\tPantomimes are definitely not for the faint-hearted. \u201cThey can be riotous at times but Jennifer\u2019s a proven comic genius. For starters, just her sauntering on stage as Captain Hook will get a laugh, and that\u2019s before she\u2019s said anything,\u201d Harrison boasted.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe\u00a0Peter Pan<\/em>\u00a0pantomime is only loosely based on J. M. Barrie\u2019s famous tale of Peter Pan, Wendy and The Lost Boys and their adventures in Never Never Land. \u201cI\u2019ll meet up with Jennifer and we\u2019ll work on it together,\u201d said Harrison, who will direct and co-author the show.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\tThen he\u2019ll put the whole package together with actor, comedian and writer Julian Clary (Julian Clary: Live \u2013 Lord of<\/em>\u00a0the<\/em>\u00a0Mince, Little Princess<\/em>) who has become a mainstay of the Palladium panto, as adept at delivering a risqu\u00e9 line as he is at sashaying across the stage in a variety of lavish costumes. He also writes great gags.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\tThis year Clary will play Seaman Smee. He\u2019ll appear swathed in creations by designer Hugh Durrant.<\/p>\n

As for Nigel Havers (Chariots of Fire, Penelope<\/em>), his role is undetermined. \u201cWell, he thinks he\u2019s playing Peter Pan, but we haven\u2019t the heart to tell him that he\u2019s not,\u201d Harrison explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\t\u201cHe enjoys being made fun of in the panto.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tVentriloquist and comedian Paul Zerdin (Paul Zerdin: All Mouth<\/em>) will play Starkey, a crewman. Peter and Wendy are yet to be cast.<\/p>\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCrossroads Pantomimes<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\tPeter Pan<\/em>\u00a0will be 43-year-old Harrison\u2019s 11th Palladium show. \u201dEight pantos, two seasons of\u00a0Joseph,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said, adding that\u00a0The Wizard of<\/em>\u00a0Oz<\/em>\u00a0opens there for a summer season beginning June 23.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\tPeter Pan<\/em>\u00a0priority booking opens April 27, with general public booking from April 28.<\/p>\n\n\tSet designs are by Mark Walters and costume designs by Durrant.
