He did so thanks to a vicious knee, followed by a string of nasty elbows. As a result of his win, he\u2019s now considered to be the number one contender for the UFC flyweight championship. He\u2019s also set to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bjpenn.com\/mma-news\/ufc\/brandon-royval-to-serve-as-back-up-fighter-for-brandon-moreno-vs-alexandre-pantoja-title-fight-at-ufc-290\/\">serve as the back-up fighter<\/a> for the upcoming Brandon Moreno vs Alexandre Pantoja title collision.<\/p>\n<p>However, while he was obviously ecstatic to get the win over Nicolau, it was certainly bittersweet \u2013 as he explained during an interview with Ariel Helwani.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MgLPZMfQlZY?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a brother who is incarcerated, and they have ESPN, you can see it on ESPN. The whole week we were talking, and I wouldn\u2019t get into MMA without my brother.
