South Korean<\/a> prosecution officials want to freeze crypto holdings and cash belonging to the Terraform Labs<\/a> founder Do Kwon<\/a>, and have asked a court to help them freeze funds located in Switzerland and elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Per the newspaper The Joongang<\/a>, prosecutors are \u201cproceeding with the process of tying up the domestic and foreign assets\u201d belonging to Kwon.<\/p>\n

Kwon is currently being detained in Montenegro.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson from the Seoul Southern District Prosecutor\u2019s Office told media representatives that the office was \u201cwaiting for a court decision on the freezing of Kwon\u2019s domestic and foreign assets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kwon is thought to have transferred much of his holdings to exchange wallets.<\/p>\n

United States officials think that Kwon cashed out some $100 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC)<\/a> via a bank in Switzerland during his 11-month flight from law enforcers.<\/p>\n

Kwon is wanted on fraud charges in South Korea and the USA<\/a>, as well as Singapore<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Montenegro officials also want to charge him with entering the country illegally.<\/p>\n

They have accused him of traveling with forged documents.<\/p>\n

How Much Crypto Does Terra\u2019s Do Kwon Have?<\/h2>\n

South Korean prosecution officials said they were still \u201cidentifying the exact size and nature\u201d of Kwon\u2019s assets.<\/p>\n

But the prosecution asked the court to make a pre-indictment freezing order.<\/p>\n

Officials claimed that this would help \u201cprevent\u201d Kwon or his associates \u201cfrom disposing of the property.\u201d<\/p>\n

They claimed they were \u201calso tracking assets that are believed to have been stolen by Kwon.\u201d<\/p>\n

They think these assets were processed though \u201cforeign cryptocurrency exchanges and Swiss bank accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, South Korean officials claimed they had identified $314.2 million worth of \u201cillicit assets\u201d<\/a> associated with Kwon and his associates.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors think Kown converted most of his funds into Bitcoin via overseas crypto exchanges.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson added that prosecutors had \u201calready frozen\u201d some funds.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson added that prosecutors were \u201crequesting\u201d more freezing orders from \u201cseveral foreign [crypto] exchanges\u201d and \u201cSwiss savings account operators.\u201d<\/p>\n

The prosecution has also frozen coins and other assets belonging to the Terraform co-founder Daniel Shin.<\/p>\n

It has requested that overseas exchanges such as Binance freeze Shin\u2019s crypto wallets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Shin is also the founder of the payments firm Chai Corporation, a former Terraform partner.<\/p>\n

Over $127 million worth of assets belonging to seven Terra employees have also been seized.<\/p>\n

These assets include crypto, cars, buildings, and plots of land.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
