{"id":623621,"date":"2023-03-30T13:49:27","date_gmt":"2023-03-30T18:49:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.sellorbuyhomefast.com\/index.php\/2023\/03\/30\/sunak-vows-to-build-hs2-euston-station\/"},"modified":"2023-03-30T13:49:27","modified_gmt":"2023-03-30T18:49:27","slug":"sunak-vows-to-build-hs2-euston-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2023\/03\/30\/sunak-vows-to-build-hs2-euston-station\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunak vows to build HS2 Euston station"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ca.emap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2023\/03\/rishi-Sunak_Liaison-Committee-1024x683.png\"   alt=\"rishi-Sunak_Liaison-Committee-1024x683.png\">        <\/p>\n<p>Prime minister Rishi Sunak at the House of Commons Liaison Committee on Tuesday (28 March)<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Prime minister Rishi Sunak has said HS2 will definitely go to Euston in central London.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister&#8217;s comments contradicted levelling up secretary Michael Gove, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/civils\/gove-doesnt-know-whether-hs2-euston-will-ever-be-built-27-03-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said over the weekend<\/a>: \u201cThere is a debate on whether [HS2&#8217;s London terminus] will be Old Oak Common or Euston.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the House of Commons Liaison Committee on Tuesday (28 March), Sunak faced questions from MPs where he insisted that there was nothing \u201cambiguous\u201d about the final termination point for HS2.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister did, however, defend plans to \u201crephase\u201d work on the central London station \u2013 which has been delayed by at least two years to coincide with the opening of HS2 phase 2b, which will run from Crewe to Manchester.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cThe aim is to deliver that station alongside the rollout to Manchester and to take the time now to get the right deliverability for that particular section.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s important that we get the big infrastructure projects right, that we do them properly. They cost a lot of money. It\u2019s reasonable that we make sure they\u2019re going to be done on budget.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re taking the time to make sure it can be delivered within budget and, given inflationary pressures, it\u2019s important we get that right.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The government has spent \u00a3458m of public money so far on its plans for Euston station, where early construction work only started in January.
