Less than two weeks after Drake announced It\u2019s All A Blur Tour<\/a>, Ticketmaster is facing legal action over allegations of artificially inflating prices for \u201cOfficial Platinum\u201d tickets.<\/p>\n

A Law Firm Argues The \u2018Official Platinum\u2019 Tickets Are \u2018Just Regular Tickets\u2019<\/h3>\n

According to the Toronto Star<\/a>, a Montreal-based law firm called LPC Avocat Inc. is accusing the platform of \u201cintentionally mislead[ing] consumers for their own financial gain.\u201d<\/p>\n

The law firm alleges that its client purchased two \u201cOfficial Platinum\u201d tickets for nearly $800 each to catch Drake\u2019s Montreal show on July 14. However, after another show was added for July 15 the very next day, the man saw that same seats were about $350 cheaper.<\/p>\n

As a result, the law firm says that Ticketmaster\u2019s \u201cOfficial Platinum\u201d tickets are \u201can artificially inflated premium\u201d that are\u00a0\u201cneither \u2018premium tickets\u2019<\/em>\u00a0nor \u2018some of the best seats in the house<\/em>.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTicketmaster unilaterally decides which tickets it advertises and sells as \u2018Official Platinum\u2019 based on a given event. The result is that most, if not all, of the tickets advertised and sold as \u2018Official Platinum\u2019 are neither \u2018premium tickets\u2019<\/em>\u00a0nor \u2018some of the best seats in the house\u2019<\/em>\u00a0and are, in fact, just regular tickets sold by Ticketmaster at an artificially inflated premium in bad faith.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Additionally, Ticketmaster is accused of intentionally keeping the second Montreal show under wraps in order to \u201csqueeze out\u201d as much money as possible from fans.<\/p>\n

This class-action lawsuit, which has not yet been approved by the Quebec Superior Court, seeks \u201ccompensatory damages in the aggregate amount of the difference between the prices charged for \u2018Official Platinum\u2019 tickets and what their regular price ought to have been.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, the law firm seeks punitive damages of $300 per customer.<\/p>\n

Ticketmaster Has Been In Hot Water Lately<\/h3>\n

While on the subject, we should note that Ticketmaster\u2019s been getting quite the bad rap online lately.<\/p>\n

Back in late 2022,\u00a0the Attorney General of Tennessee\u2014Jonathan Skrmetti\u2014launched an investigation into the platform\u2019s presale for Taylor Swift\u2019s The Eras Tour, as The Shade Room<\/a> previously reported.<\/p>\n
