research<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We have zero interest in publishing an article on \u201cPDF merging tools,\u201d and we\u2019ve never accepted a guest post.<\/p>\n<p>So, what\u2019s going on?<\/p>\n<p>The targeting is completely irrelevant.<\/p>\n<p>For a decade now, I\u2019ve cautioned marketers about the \u201crobot invasion in Digital PR\u201d, where agencies prioritize emailing hundreds of writers in one fell swoop, instead of building a relationship with the person on the other side of the inbox.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s only one way for writers to receive these emails: spam.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sure, <strong>maybe your agency charges you less for this scaled outreach strategy, but the long-term negative impact on your brand authority in the newsroom can be severely Prioritizing press releases via paid syndication networks<\/h2>\n<p>Press releases can get expensive, totaling several hundreds of dollars for a single press release on the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/marketing\/press-release-distribution#:~:text=It's%20the%20process%20of%20circulating,%2C%20organization%20structure%2C%20and%20more.\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" outlets and bloggers look to and source when developing their stories.\u00a0<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n          <span Sending templated emails to cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me writers instead of personalization<\/h2>\n<p>If you talk to any one of my business partners, they\u2019ll tell you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/kristintynski\/recent-activity\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">AI is going to revolutionize our industry within the next year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With offshore teams inundating publishers with pitches for years, it\u2019s more important than ever for you to build relationships to stand out in the sea of growing inbox spam.<\/p>\n<p>There are dozens of ways to stand out by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/kristintynski\/recent-activity\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">personalizing your digital PR pitch<\/a>, but here are my most favorite ways to invest in relationship building with top-tier writers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1. Build Twitter lists of writers who cover your industry and connect with them consistently, or at least 3-5x prior to pitching them (preferably with a response beforehand).\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Share articles they write and @ their handle\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Add commentary to something they wrote when sharing it on social, trying to engage them in a discussion\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Add a threaded reply and ask a question about something they recently tweeted\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Comment on something personal in their bio or recent tweet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2.
