\n\tZachary Levi<\/a> took to Instagram to clarify that he doesn\u2019t blame Dwyane Johnson \u2014 or anyone \u2014 for nixing the originally planned post-credits scene in Shazam<\/a>! Fury of the Gods, <\/em>which would\u2019ve seen Justice Society of America members inviting the sequel\u2019s title character to join their group. <\/p>\n

\n\tOn Tuesday, Levi seemed to call out Johnson<\/a> after a story from The Wrap<\/em> reported that the Black Adam<\/em> star blocked Justice Society characters from appearing in the Shazam!<\/a> <\/em>sequel and shot down the possibility of a Levi cameo in his movie. In his Instagram Story, the Chuck<\/em> alum shared a post mentioning the reporting and added \u201cThe truth shall set you free.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI may or may not have, you know, reposted something in my Stories about a story that I had nothing to do with that [The Wrap<\/em>] had reported on<\/a>, and then I got flack about it because people were saying \u2018Oh, What are you doing? You\u2019re trying to blame this guy because your movie\u2019s not doing well. Like you\u2019re trying to blame us,’\u201d Levi said in an Instagram Live on Thursday. \u201cListen, I haven\u2019t blamed anybody. There\u2019s not one single person that I have blamed for anything about the way that our movie has performed.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIt was known that members of the Justice Society were supposed to appear in Fury of the Gods<\/em> since Black Adam and Shazam are rivals in the comics. The sequel\u2019s filmmaker David F. Sandberg told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> that the original post-credits scene<\/a> \u201cfell apart three days before we were going to roll cameras.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLevi doubled down on the fact that he wasn\u2019t blaming anyone and had his own thoughts about why the film wasn\u2019t doing well at the box office<\/a> and doesn\u2019t have great critics\u2019 reviews<\/a> on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe reason I decided to share that was not because I wanna blame anybody for anything,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s because I do not want to be blamed for things that are not on me. And as a leader, and I believe, a protector of my family, my Shazam<\/em>-ly and everyone who worked so hard on these movies \u2026 we have been doing everything we can to fight for you, the fans.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHe went on to explain that the Shazam!<\/em> team even tried to get Henry Cavill to appear in the 2019 film and wasn\u2019t allowed to make it happen. Having grown up as a self-proclaimed comic nerd, Levi said he wants to give audiences all the crossovers and callbacks that they could possibly want. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe American Underdog <\/em>actor also touched on the post-credits scene they ended up creating for Fury of the Gods<\/em>, which featured \u2014 spoiler alert! \u2014 Peacemaker <\/em>and The Suicide Squad <\/em>stars Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPeople are slagging on James Gunn because Jennifer Holland, his wife, who is an actress, who\u2019s on Peacemaker<\/em> and was in Suicide Squad<\/em>, yes, but is connected to the Justice Society,\u201d Levi shared. \u201cWe used Jennifer and Steve in that scene, in the mid-credit scene, in Shazam!<\/em>, but that was not the original intent.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cThe original intent was to have Hawkman and Cyclone be there to invite me\u2026 by the way, this is a little bit of a spoiler alert for anybody who hasn\u2019t seen the movie. Sorry, whatever, it\u2019s all online anyway. So, our intent, our desire \u2014 Walter Hamada, Peter Safran, David Sandberg, myself, everybody \u2014 we had an awesome scene that would have tied me in to the JSA with Hawkman and with Cyclone, and we were thwarted.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHe, again, explained that he wasn\u2019t trying to blame anybody for the movie\u2019s performance but instead just wanted to defend the people who deserved it.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m coming to the defense of truth because truth is good,\u201d Levi said. \u201cWe should all live in it guys, even when it\u2019s hard, even when it\u2019s something that might fly in the face of something that we already might have believed before and now it challenges whatever our idea or our opinion is. We need to live in the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n
