While not ideal, this shows a need for an updated financial system,\u201d a Coinbase spokeswoman said.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Payments news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/metamask\/\"><strong>MetaMask<\/strong><\/a> wallet expanded its partnership with payment company <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/moonpay\/\"><strong>MoonPay<\/strong><\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/nigeria\/\">Nigeria<\/a> to enable users to buy crypto directly from their wallets, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/web3\/\">Web3<\/a> company <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/consensys\/\"><strong>ConsenSys<\/strong><\/a> announced today. Nigerian users can now purchase crypto via instant bank transfers within the MetaMask mobile and Portfolio Dapp. This will make it easier for users to \u201cobtain tokens more efficiently without setting up a crypto exchange account,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/consensys.net\/blog\/press-release\/consensys-and-moonpay-join-forces-to-empower-nigerian-users-with-easy-access-to-crypto-directly-in-metamask\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the announcement.<\/li>\n<li>Australian <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/stablecoin\/\">stablecoin<\/a> wallet <strong>Stables<\/strong> announced a collaboration with card issuing platform <strong>Marqeta<\/strong> and with <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/mastercard\/\"><strong>Mastercard<\/strong><\/a> in \u201ca first-of-its-kind digital wallet integration\u201d in Asia Pacific (APAC), which will enable customers to convert stablecoins into fiat currency and spend it anywhere Mastercard is accepted, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20230320005642\/en\/Marqeta-Announces-Partnership-with-Stables-in-Australia-to-Power-Prepaid-Card\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> the press release. Stables will partner with a third party to allow customers to save and spend USDC, which will be converted to fiat and settled on Mastercard\u2019s network, it added. The card will be accessible through the Stables digital app via mobile wallets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Adoption news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/india\/\">India<\/a> is expected to hit over 156 million crypto users in 2023, five times more than <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/usa\/\">the US<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bitcoincasinos.com\/blog\/2023\/03\/20\/india-to-hit-156-million-crypto-users-in-2023-5x-more-than-the-united-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to <strong>BitcoinCasinos.com<\/strong>. Over half of that value will come from the US, the report said.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Banking news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/coins\/bitcoin\/\">Bitcoin<\/a> custodian and licensed private bank <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/xapo\/\"><strong>Xapo Bank<\/strong><\/a> said it collaborated with <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/coins\/usd-coin\/\">USDC<\/a> issuer <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/circle\/\"><strong>Circle<\/strong><\/a> to become the first licensed bank to integrate the USDC stablecoin payment rails as an alternative to <strong>SWIFT<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.finextra.com\/pressarticle\/96170\/xapo-bank-collaborates-with-circle-to-integrate-usdc-payment-rails-as-an-alternative-to-swift\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Per<\/a> the announcement, by adding outrails to its existing USDC onramps, the bank is \u201cenabling members to bypass costly and time consuming SWIFT payments and instead deposit and withdraw via the stablecoin with no fees charged by Xapo Bank.\u201d It offers a 1:1 conversion rate from USDC to USD and a 4.1% annual interest rate return on deposits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Regulation news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>Financial Supervisory Commission of <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/taiwan\/\"><strong>Taiwan<\/strong><\/a> (FSC) will become the primary regulator of cryptocurrencies in the country, the United Daily News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/money.udn.com\/money\/story\/5613\/7042833?from=edn_subcatelist_cate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>, citing chairman Huang Tien-mu.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>DeFi news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>NEAR Community<\/strong> launched the <strong>NEAR Digital Collective Special Purpose Trust<\/strong> (the NDC Trust) with support from the <strong>NEAR Foundation<\/strong>, a Swiss nonprofit supporting the development of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/near\/\"><strong>NEAR Protocol<\/strong><\/a>, said a press release. \u201cUtilising Guernsey\u2019s Special Purpose Trust framework, the NDC Trust will enable the ecosystem participants to benefit from a decentralised community treasury that operates in a flexible but risk-mitigated manner and helps to democratise governance among stakeholders,\u201d it said.
