It has been reported Ludacris\u2019 Karma\u2019s World Entertainment<\/strong> company has inked a new licensing deal. The media company has teamed up with two Black-owned haircare businesses, landing them their first-ever licensing deal.<\/p>\n Ludacris\u2019 mission-oriented media company Karma\u2019s World Entertainment<\/strong> and its production company, \u00a09 Story Media Group<\/strong> have struck licensing deals with two Black haircare businesses. According to the Hollywood Reporter<\/strong>, Ludacris, real name Chris Bridges, said in a statement:<\/p>\n \u201cCreating a program that supports Black-owned businesses speaks to the themes of representation and community that live throughout Karma\u2019s World. This unique opportunity supports the power of entrepreneurship in inclusive spaces and puts Black excellence on display.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n As a father, Luda is known for expressing his passion for uplifting young Black girls<\/a> and giving back to children<\/a>.<\/p>\n Karma\u2019s World x Black Haircare<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n The media companies partnered with Los Angeles-based CurlyKids Mixed Texture HairCare<\/strong> and Firstline Brands<\/strong>. The two Black-owned businesses will receive marketing support and networking opportunities at the 2023 Licensing Expo in June at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.\u00a0<\/p>\n In addition, 9 Story Brands<\/strong>, which boasts an impressive roster including global companies such as large toy brand Mattel<\/strong>\u2014 has partnered with Black business private club The Gathering Spot<\/strong>, which will also provide customized memberships to the two Black-owned businesses.<\/p>\n However, the new deal is only the beginning since the two media companies will continue to seek out other Black-owned businesses to increase retail representation in the licensing business.<\/p>\n In a statement, 9 Story Brands<\/strong> co-vice president Kyra Halperin said,\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cBlack-owned businesses have been historically underrepresented within the licensing industry, and it\u2019s critical that we work with partners that align with the DNA of the brand and work towards better representation on-shelf,\u201d \u201cWe are thrilled to partner with CurlyKids Mixed Texture HairCare and Firstline Brands \u2014 each a first-time licensee \u2014 to develop exciting and innovative extensions of the Karma\u2019s World universe.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The two Black-owned businesses have already dropped their first Karma\u2019s World<\/em>-branded products. CurlyKids<\/strong> released their Super Detangling Shampoo, Super Detangling Conditioner, and Super Detangling Spray. Firstline<\/strong> dropped three silk bonnets and pillowcases.<\/p>\n All are now available at 469 Walmart <\/strong>locations.<\/p>\n Young Black Girl Magic<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/h2>\n Ludacris\u2019<\/strong> Netflix<\/strong> animated series, <\/em>Karma\u2019s World<\/em><\/a> may provide important lessons for how Black girls can safely navigate the space.
