And that&#8217;s exactly what the Extreme guitarist intended.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Eddie Van Halen passed, it really hit me,\u201d Bettencourt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guitarworld.com\/news\/extreme-nuno-bettencourt-six-rise\">said<\/a> at the time of the track&#8217;s release. \u201cI\u2019m not going to be the one who will take the throne, but I felt some responsibility to keep guitar playing alive. So, you hear a lot of fire on the record [Extreme&#8217;s forthcoming album,\u00a0<em>Six<\/em>].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of <em>Rise<\/em>&#8216;s release, guitar YouTuber Rick Beato could hardly \u2013 he tells us in a new video \u2013 go a couple of hours without a friend or relative asking him if he had heard the song yet.<\/p>\n<p>Once Beato finally did hear the song, he was compelled enough to break down its many intriguing guitar parts \u2013 including that crazy solo \u2013 for his viewers. You can watch Beato&#8217;s assessment below.<\/p>\n<div data-nosnippet>\n<p><iframe data-lazy-priority=\"high\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MnSnuf9QPqs\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>As Beato points out, Bettencourt channels his inner Eddie Van Halen a number of times in <em>Rise<\/em>, with EVH-esque whammy bar dive-bombs and tremolo picking.<\/p>\n<p>The tune&#8217;s muscular drop D riff \u2013 as Beato notes \u2013 is powerful, but it&#8217;s the solo that&#8217;s got everyone talking. Beato&#8217;s tutorial particularly focuses on the lightning-fast, aggressive\u00a0section anchored by Bettencourt&#8217;s unrivaled picking prowess.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Though he breaks Bettencourt&#8217;s incredible picking pattern down in great detail, and at low speed, Beato also sounds a note of caution to those looking to conquer the acrobatic display of lead acumen.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s hard to play,&#8221; Beato \u2013 who is armed with his familiar Les Paul Special DC \u2013 points out, &#8220;and if you&#8217;re trying to play along, don&#8217;t practice it for too long because you&#8217;re going to get tendonitis.
