Jones<\/b><span>, an uber-talented Syrian-Mexican-American writer, comedian and show producer who hosts the ongoing series \u2018Hilarious Habibis.\u2019 Gena kickstarted the evening and over the course of two hours, an enraptured audience heard palpitating performances by vocal powerhouse <\/span><b>Joanna Pearl<\/b><span> (who\u2019s affecting anthem \u201cI Am Woman\u201d was the beacon for the evening), effervescent chanteuse <\/span><b>Maureen Toth<\/b><span> (who was flanked by the veteran duo of guitarist Carlos Calvo and drummer Marc Slutsky on the hypnotic bilingual treatise \u201cCon Te\u201d), soul country troubadour <\/span><b>Lisa Sanders<\/b><span>, who along with her frequent collaborator <\/span><b>Brown Sugar<\/b><span>, charmed everyone with her song \u201cUnicorn\u201d before <\/span><b>Arielle Silver<\/b><span> closed out the first block of performances with eloquent thought-provoking excursions of courage and perseverance.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"td_uid_50_641429ea19d27\">\n<p>Photo Credit Gary Johnson <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span>After another blistering set of quick-witted hijinks from Juicy Gena, the evening soared on with scintillating guitar-driven indie pop from <\/span><b>Devon Michael<\/b><span> (previewing songs from \u2018<\/span><i><span>Even NASA Loses Satellites<\/span><\/i><span>\u2019), impassioned indie folk from <\/span><b>Julie Tan<\/b><span> (accompanied by violinist <\/span><b>Caitlin Unumb<\/b><span> on the emotionally-transcendent \u201cLA 66\u201d) and forthright tales from San Diegan <\/span><b>Sara Petite<\/b><span>, who brought down the house with her new single \u201cBringin\u2019 Down the Neighborhood\u201d (from her forthcoming 7th record). Also wow\u2019ing patrons were theatrical hard rocker <\/span><b>Christina Chriss<\/b><span>, accompanied by Kaleido bandmate Joey Fava on anthems \u201cWatch Me Walk Away\u201d and \u201cPretending,\u201d and acclaimed songwriter <\/span><b>Hannah Avison<\/b><span> (<\/span><i><span>Lauv<\/span><\/i><span>, <\/span><i><span>Ava Max, Fletcher, Jordin Sparks<\/span><\/i><span>), who was performing live for the first time in 11 years. As the final notes to her EDM-tinged hit \u201cMonster\u201d rang out, smiles and applause lit the room.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"td_uid_51_641429ea1c9b0\">\n<p>Photo credit Mannie Hebron,<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span>Presented by 1888 Media, a portion of the proceeds went to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sistersong.net\"><span>SisterSong<\/span><\/a><span>, whose\u00a0mission is to strengthen and amplify the collective voices of indigenous women and women of color to achieve reproductive justice by eradicating reproductive oppression and securing human rights.
