{"id":618415,"date":"2023-03-16T01:50:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-16T06:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.sellorbuyhomefast.com\/index.php\/2023\/03\/16\/osborne-chief-steps-down-as-offsite-arm-sold\/"},"modified":"2023-03-16T01:50:00","modified_gmt":"2023-03-16T06:50:00","slug":"osborne-chief-steps-down-as-offsite-arm-sold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2023\/03\/16\/osborne-chief-steps-down-as-offsite-arm-sold\/","title":{"rendered":"Osborne chief steps down as offsite arm sold"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ca.emap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2016\/10\/Osborne-logo-van-new-2014-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Osborne logo van new 2014 2\"  >        <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Osborne chief executive Mark Hoyland is to exit the role after less than six months, with former interim boss Dave Smith returning to the helm of a slimmed-down group.<\/p>\n<p>The Surrey-headquartered development and contracting giant announced that Hoyland, who only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/osborne-appoints-hoyland-as-ceo-03-11-2022\/\">took the top job last November<\/a>, would step down to the role of adviser.<\/p>\n<p>He will be replaced by Smith, who ran Osborne on an interim basis for about a year after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/news\/peoplemoves-news\/osborne-ceo-departs-as-interim-successor-named-11-11-2021\/\">departure of the long-serving Andy Steele in late 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the company is selling offsite manufacturer Innovare Systems to Bowmer + Kirkland.<\/p>\n<p>The firms have agreed a deal for the Coventry-based specialist, which had a \u00a311.6m turnover in the year to September 2021 and employed 60 people.<\/p>\n<p>Innovare staff will have the opportunity to transfer to Bowmer + Kirkland, which has its headquarters in Derbyshire.<\/p>\n<p>Osborne said it was selling the offsite firm to focus on its core business. The Surrey company <a href=\"http:\/\/sold%20its%20infrastructure%20business%20to%20private%20equity%20in%202021\">sold its infrastructure business to private equity in 2021<\/a>, a move it later credited with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/osborne-sees-profit-after-sale-of-infra-business-01-07-2022\/\">boosting its use of offsite construction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman Andrew Osborne said: \u201cToday\u2019s strategic changes will ensure our core business can be successful in the years ahead. Everyone at Osborne is proud of Innovare\u2019s growth and I know the company will continue to thrive under its new ownership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConstruction is the heart of Osborne Group, the order book for 2023 is strong and I look forward to making further announcements about new schemes and delivery of existing projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith said he was \u201cdelighted\u201d to become permanent chief executive, while Hoyland said he was \u201clooking forward to providing strategic support to the board\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Osborne made a loss of almost \u00a315m in the 18 months to September 2020 before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/osborne-sees-profit-after-sale-of-infra-business-01-07-2022\/\">returning to profit in 2021<\/a>, largely due to the sale of its infrastructure division.<\/p>\n<p>Bowmer + Kirkland said it had been working with Innovare for \u201ca number of years\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur imminent acquisition of Innovare assets, people and brand is the right thing for us to do and, now that we are all under one roof, will be a major benefit for our clients,\u201d said chairman Jack Kirkland. \u201cThe strength of the group will help Innovare fulfil its potential.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>Related articles<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/osborne-chief-steps-down-as-offsite-arm-sold-16-03-2023\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Greg Pitcher<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Osborne chief executive Mark Hoyland is to exit the role after less than six months, with former interim boss Dave Smith returning to the helm of a slimmed-down group.
