After six years, Overwatch 2<\/i>‘s commercial lead Jon Spector will be leaving the company at the end of the month.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Jon Spector, the commercial leader and vice president for\u00a0Overwatch 2, <\/em>will\u00a0depart Blizzard Entertainment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Friday,\u00a0March 10, Spector confirmed<\/a> he would be leaving the studio at the end of March. “After 6 amazing years, I\u2019ve decided to hang up my sword and am leaving Blizzard,” he wrote. “Working on Overwatch<\/em> has been the highlight of my career\u2014Team 4 brings immense talent and passion to their work every day.”<\/p>\n

Through LinkedIn<\/a>, he added that he plans to continue working in games via product management and commercial functions. He first joined Blizzard in 2017 as the director of the company’s Overwatch\u00a0<\/em>esports league, and was eventually promoted to lead the business division of the popular hero shooter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Spector has been one of the primary voices speaking to the community about\u00a0Overwatch 2.\u00a0<\/em>Ahead of the game’s release, he revealed how it would tie future DLC heroes<\/a> to its battle pass, the series’\u00a0first-ever brand crossover<\/a>, and how in-game currencies<\/a> from\u00a0Overwatch 1\u00a0<\/em>would transfer over.<\/p>\n

At time of writing, a replacement for Spector has yet to be announced.<\/p>\n
