Apple reminds us that spring is around the corner with a new color for\u00a0iPhone 14<\/a> and 14 Plus<\/a>: yellow<\/a>. As has been the case for the past few years, Apple dropped a new color for the iPhone in March. In 2021, we got the\u00a0purple iPhone 12<\/a>. Last spring, we got a\u00a0green iPhone 13 and an alpine green iPhone 13 Pro<\/a>. And this year it’s yellow. Sadly, Apple decided to leave the\u00a0Pro models<\/a>\u00a0out of the new color party.<\/p>\n

There are now six colors to choose from: yellow, purple, blue, starlight, midnight and Product Red. If you follow Apple closely, you know that the old rainbow Apple logo was made up of six colors. Coincidence? I think not. The new yellow has a soft, pastel tone to it.<\/p>\n

While the new finish is exciting, the yellow iPhone 14 is identical to the models that launched in September. It runs\u00a0iOS 16<\/a><\/span>, has an\u00a0A15 Bionic chip<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0Emergency SOS via Satellite<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0Car Crash Detection<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and cameras similar to those of the\u00a0iPhone 13 Pro<\/a><\/span>\u00a0(aside from the telephoto). In fact, we are halfway through the iPhone’s annual upgrade cycle, with the\u00a0rumored iPhone 15<\/a><\/span>\u00a0expected to launch in September.<\/p>\n

Unlike with last year’s iPhone 13 color drop, Apple did not announce a new version of the iPhone SE<\/a>. In fact there are rumors that the SE is dead<\/a>, while some say a\u00a0new version of Apple’s cheapest phone<\/a>\u00a0might still be on the way in 2024.<\/p>\n

The new yellow iPhone 14 and 14 Plus is available to preorder and will be in stores starting Tuesday. Most people are likely to\u00a0put a case on their iPhone 14<\/a><\/span>\u00a0no matter which color the phone is. If that’s you, Apple also launched a\u00a0new yellow silicone case<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n
