The service allows institutions to create customizable user wallets that can be used to purchase in-game items or even store loyalty points on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/blockchain-news\"><span>blockchain<\/span><\/a><span>. A Coinbase executive hinted that the wallet service will run on its <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/coinbase-announces-layer-2-base-blockchain\"><span>recently-launched Ethereum layer-2 platform <\/span><\/a><span>called Base, which it <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/coinbase-offers-free-nfts-to-mark-base-launch\"><span>popularized using free NFTs<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span>Lower Risks and Implementation Costs<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/crypto-exchange-reviews\"><span>exchange <\/span><\/a><span>noted that the service will remove the complexity associated with crypto and Web 3.0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fullycrypto.com\/why-is-storing-bitcoin-so-important-and-how-to-do-it\"><span>wallets <\/span><\/a><span>while also enhancing user experience. The Coinbase WaaS employs multi-party computation (MPC), a technology touted to increase wallet security since a private key is divided into multiple decentralized chunks.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">5\/ Companies like <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/floor?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@floor<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/moonraygame?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@moonraygame<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thirdweb?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@thirdweb<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tokenproof?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@tokenproof<\/a> are starting to build with Wallet as a Service to onboard users to web3 experiences across gaming, token-gated events, and digital marketplaces.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Coinbase (@coinbase) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/coinbase\/status\/1633473051068080130?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 8, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The service is already in use with Coinbase revealing that tokenproof, thirdweb and Moonray are among Web 3.0-centric companies already using WaaS with more partners to be announced later.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span>WaaS + Base, Independent but Compatible<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>According to McGregor, the wallet service can be used by different companies whether in social media, gaming or retail.
