\n\tCond\u00e9 Nast is making an acquisition in the podcast space.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe publisher is acquiring the In the Dark<\/em> podcast from American Public Media, including the library of past episodes. <\/p>\n \n\tThe company is bringing over the investigative show\u2019s staff, including co-creators Madeleine Baran and Samara Freemark, who will develop a new season for Cond\u00e9 Nast Entertainment\u2019s audio division. <\/p>\n \n\tThey will also work with the staff of the New Yorker<\/em> on future episodes of In the Dark<\/em>, and will develop new narrative podcast series for the company\u2019s broader portfolio. New Yorker <\/em>editor David Remnick said that he was first introduced to the series by cultural critic Sarah Larson, who named<\/a> In the Dark<\/em> her podcast of the year in 2018.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAnd was she ever right,\u201d he added. \u201cI am delighted that The New Yorker<\/em> will be partnering with Madeleine, Samara, and their team\u2019s extraordinary investigative work.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe\u2019re incredibly excited to be joining an organization renowned for both its investigative reporting and its compelling narrative storytelling,\u201d added Baran. \u201cIt\u2019s the perfect fit for us, and we can\u2019t wait to get started.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tFinancial terms were not disclosed.<\/p>\n \n\tIn the Dark<\/em> launched in 2016 and has won two Peabody Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award and a George Polk Award.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAnyone who\u2019s listened to an episode of In the Dark<\/em> knows that these reporters and producers are doing some of the best investigative journalism in audio,\u201d CNE head of global audio Chris Bannon said in a statement. \u201cWe are thrilled that this all-star team is joining Cond\u00e9 Nast Entertainment \u2014 a partnership that will establish us as a leader in narrative podcasting.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tCond\u00e9 Nast\u2019s audio division produces a number of shows, including The New Yorker Radio Hour<\/em>, Bon Appetit\u2019s<\/em> Dinner SOS<\/em> and The Run-Through With Vogue<\/em>.
