Howard\u2019s sound blends elements of country, funk, folk, blues, jazz, and indie-rock into lush <a href=\"https:\/\/guitargirlmag.com\/interviews\/take-five-with-melanie-jag\/\">music<\/a> dripping with beaucoup swagger.<\/p>\n<p>Encompassing 10 tracks, <em>Valiant Women<\/em> begins with \u201cBetter Than You Think,\u201d traveling on a funk-lite rhythm topped by cool brass accents and Howard\u2019s evocative voice, which, when it shifts into a delicious, rasping growl, sends shivers up listeners\u2019 spine.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guitargirlmag.com\/ad.php?token=NWE1NzlkZDUxOTNiZg&#038;ar=el478x164&#038;type=c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/guitargirlmag.com\/ad.php?token=NWE1NzlkZDUxOTNiZg&#038;ar=el478x164&#038;type=v\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Highlights on the album include \u201cHold On,\u201d rolling out on a graceful, melancholic piano as Howard\u2019s tender vocals imbue the lyrics with hints of gospel blues.
