Previously, those who failed to wear masks in public were fined about $635.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong\u2019s strict Covid policies, which until last year included limits on group gatherings, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/21\/world\/asia\/hong-kong-flight-bans.html?searchResultPosition=5\" title>flight bans and long hotel quarantines<\/a>, had been increasingly criticized by business leaders and others, who said the controls were damaging the city\u2019s attractiveness as a finance center and tourist destination.
