According to a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmusicnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/lil-peep-womack-first-access-settlement-feb-2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener follow\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">notice filed<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the rapper\u2019s mother, Liza Womack, has settled her wrongful death lawsuit against First Access Entertainment (FAE). FAE is the management and label services company that worked with Lil Peep, whose real name was Gustav Elijah \u00c5hr.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to Womack\u2019s lawyer, Paul Matiasic, the settlement terms were confidential. The court filing shows that the settlement was dated February 14, while a trial was scheduled to begin on March 8.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cLiza has been indefatigable in her pursuit of justice for her son,\u201d\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/lil-peep-mother-settles-wrongful-death-lawsuit-with-label\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow external noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">said Matiasic<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. \u201cWith the conclusion of the litigation, her focus will shift to shepherding his legacy and continuing to release his music for the enjoyment of his fans.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cToday, Gus\u2019s music came home,\u201d begins a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CowEdU1O-xN\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow external noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">statement<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0on Lil Peep\u2019s social media pages. \u201cFrom this day forward, his music will be in the care of his mother and brother and no one else.\u201d<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Womack initially filed the lawsuit in October 2019 \u2014 nearly two years after her son\u2019s death \u2014 alleging wrongful death, negligence, and breach of contract against FAE, manager Bryant Ortega, and tour manager Belinda Mercer. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In January 2022, texts and documents unsealed in court showed Womack\u2019s lawyers asserting the \u201cdysfunctional, lethal state\u201d of the tour during which Peep died in 2017. In February, Judge Teresa Beaudet ruled that the case against FAE and Mercer go forward while dismissing most of the claims against Ortega.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Court documents in 2021 show that Mercer denied any involvement leading to Peep\u2019s death, while FAE previously called Womack\u2019s lawsuit \u201cgroundless and offensive.\u201d Ortega has called the allegations against him \u201cbaseless, misguided, and without merit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalmusicnews.com\/2020\/01\/07\/lil-peep-managers-deny-wrongdoing-rappers-overdose\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"follow\">Lil Peep<\/a> released only one studio album during his lifetime,\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Come Over When You\u2019re Sober, Pt. 1<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. The sequel record,\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Come Over When You\u2019re Sober, Pt. 2<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and the compilation album,\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Everybody\u2019s Everything<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, were shared posthumously.
