{"id":610156,"date":"2023-02-20T18:29:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-21T00:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.sellorbuyhomefast.com\/index.php\/2023\/02\/20\/woke-city-policies-in-austin-texas-blamed-for-street-racing-chaos\/"},"modified":"2023-02-20T18:29:00","modified_gmt":"2023-02-21T00:29:00","slug":"woke-city-policies-in-austin-texas-blamed-for-street-racing-chaos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2023\/02\/20\/woke-city-policies-in-austin-texas-blamed-for-street-racing-chaos\/","title":{"rendered":"Woke city policies in Austin, Texas blamed for street racing chaos"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 Prominent voices blamed liberal, anti-cop policies for chaos in the city over the weekend after street racers took over city intersections, attacking law enforcement and setting people on fire in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/02\/20\/austin-texas-street-race-leads-to-chaos-as-spectators-set-on-fire\/\">wild scenes which were caught on video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAustin voters wanted a Mayor, City Council, and [George] Soros [funded] DA who treat cops as criminals and criminals as victims,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NatPoliceAssoc\/status\/1627448198737326080\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeted the National Police Association<\/a>, referring to the left wing billionaire, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/soros-funded-texas-da-court-order-grand-jury-charge-police-officer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said to have funded <\/a>Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was not only predictable, it was predicted,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n<p>The public statement from the law enforcement organization came after one officer was injured, following four separate street racing incidents  Saturday night into Sunday morning in the Texas state capital, <a href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/austintexas.gov\/the-austin-police-department-investigates-reckless-driving-incidents-street-takeovers-throughout-the-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Austin police said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Reckless drivers blocked off intersections, doing donuts, terrorizing other motorists, throwing glass bottles, setting off fire works and starting fires. In October, the union said its ability to respond to Austin City Limits Music Festival and a popular college football game on the same weekend was at a \u201ccritical level.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis is why it is vital that city leadership prioritizes funding and staffing for [Austin Police Department],\u201d the union tweeted. <\/p>\n<p>After the weekend bedlam, union leaders slammed woke elected officials who campaigned on anti-police rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAustin policy makers are directly responsible for the overall safety of their citizens &#038; visitors,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ATXPOA\/status\/1627217453376839681\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the tweet stated.<\/a> \u201cLooks like they failed to make the right decisions &#038; continue to defund, destroy, &#038; demoralize public safety.
