Photo courtesy of the WInnipeg Police Service\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=547120837442438&#038;set=pb.100064335803941.-2207520000.&#038;type=3\">Facebook<\/a><\/p>\n<article itemprop=\"articleBody\">\n<p><span>Feb. 19 (UPI) &#8212;<\/span> The Winnipeg Police Service is searching for two suspects in a string of attacks involving bear spray and a machete that they believe may be connected.<\/p>\n<p>At least four incidents were reported downtown and in the West End neighborhood on Sunday morning, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/manitoba\/winnipeg-police-suspects-alleged-machete-attacks-1.6753819\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBC News<\/a> reported. At least one of those incidents involved an attack with a machete.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Officers are actively searching for two suspects believed to be involved,&#8221; Const. Claude Chancy said in an email to <a href=\"https:\/\/winnipeg.ctvnews.ca\/police-investigating-bear-spray-incidents-in-parts-of-winnipeg-sunday-1.6280387\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CTV News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the Winnipeg police <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winnipeg.ca\/news\/2023-02-15-aggravated-assault-updatearrest-c23-32343-c23-36463\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> charges against an 18-year-old suspected of attacking a 52-year-old man with a machete on Feb. 9. Cintiro Jeremy Loon of Kenora, Ontario, is charged with aggravated assault, three counts of possession of a weapon and two counts of failure to comply with probation orders.<\/p>\n<p>The victim suffered &#8220;life-altering&#8221; injuries, police said. Investigators reportedly believe this attack to be random and unprovoked.<\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 12, a 15-year-old and 16-year-old were detained after reportedly using bear spray on 11 people, including people riding a transit bus and at least three in a shopping center, police said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winnipeg.ca\/news\/2023-02-13-assault-weapon-arrests-c23-34885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a>. Both teenagers were males from Winnipeg.\n<\/p>\n<p>The teens were charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and failure to comply. The 16-year-old was also charged with assaulting a peace officer after allegedly spitting in an officer&#8217;s face.
