K&S Films<\/a>, whose credits include \u201cWild Tales,\u201d \u201cThe Clan\u201d and \u201cThe Summit\u201d \u2014 the last by \u201cArgentina, 1985\u201d director Santiago Mitre \u2014\u00a0\u201cA Cielo Abierto\u201d is directed by Mariana Arriaga and Santiago Arriaga, Guillermo Arriaga\u2019s daughter and son, making their feature film debut.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\t\u201cA Cielo Abierto\u201d turns on two teen brothers who take a road trip to the Mexico-U.S. border to track down the man responsible for the car accident that caused their father\u2019s death.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\tJoined by their beautiful newly-met stepsister, their trip becomes a \u201ctense revenge journey to adulthood,\u201d the synopsis runs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\tDuring the journey, the trio, from Mexico\u2019s upper-middle class, will also encounter \u201cviolence, tenderness, a wild inclement landscape, instinct, animals and seriousness,\u201d Guillermo Arriaga said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cA Cielo Abierto\u201d shot in the northern Coahuila desert, a \u201csacred land\u201d for the Arriagas, where \u201clight, space, fauna and flora have a special significance for all three of us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cWe wanted to covert this landscape into another lead character of the film,\u201d Arriaga recalled. \u201cMy daughter and son shot in the most merciless conditions: Scorching sun, sweltering afternoons, to pass in just a few days to rain, blustering icy wind and temperatures below zero.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tFilm Factory is currently showing a first promo at Berlin\u2019s European Film Market. The film is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n
