<\/span>Step 1: Sign Up or Log In<\/span><\/h3>\n

The first step is to either sign up for a new Canva account or log in to your existing account by clicking on one of the buttons as shown in the screenshot below. You\u2019ll need to select how to sign up or log in using one of several methods.<\/p>\n

    Now that you\u2019re logged into your Canva account, it\u2019s time to choose what to design. For this guide, we\u2019ll be creating a Facebook post.<\/p>\n

    If you don\u2019t see it immediately, click on the right arrow to scroll right until you find \u201cFacebook Post (Landscape).\u201d<\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    We\u2019ll be using a template for our design, so hover over the magnifying glass in the top right corner of \u201cFacebook Post (Landscape)\u201d and not \u201cCreate blank.\u201d<\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    <\/span>Step 3: Select a Template<\/span><\/h3>\n

    If you have a Free account, you\u2019ll be limited to using only the free templates. Any other templates will require a Can Pro or Teams account, or they have elements in them such as images that\u2019ll require you to pay for them. For this guide, we\u2019ll be using a free template.<\/p>\n

    Once you\u2019ve settled on a template, click on the \u201cCustomize this template\u201d button.<\/p>\n

    <\/span>Step 4: Canva Editor Overview<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Canva is feature-rich and can be overwhelming for new users. To help you quickly become acquainted with the Canva editor, here\u2019s a quick overview:<\/p>\n

    1. Search box<\/strong> \u2013 You can find images, videos, icons, and more using the search box, which will be specific to the tab you\u2019re in. So to search for templates, you would search within the \u201cDesign\u201d tab. To find shapes or other elements, use the search box within the \u201cElements\u201d tab.<\/li>\n
    2. Design tab<\/strong> \u2013 Here you can select a new template, or experiment with different fonts and color combos in \u201cStyles.\u201d<\/li>\n
    3. Elements tab<\/strong> \u2013 In this tab, you\u2019ll find lines, shapes, graphics, stickers, photos, videos, frames, grids, and more.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Uploads tab<\/strong> \u2013 You can upload your own images, videos, and audio here.<\/li>\n
    5. Text tab<\/strong> \u2013 Use this tab to add text to your design as well as pre-formatted font combinations.<\/li>\n
    6. Projects tab<\/strong> \u2013 In \u201cProjects\u201d you\u2019ll be able to find your previous designs as well as any project folders you or anyone from your team has created.<\/li>\n
    7. Apps tab<\/strong> \u2013 Access even more content to create amazing designs such as emojis, YouTube videos, GIPHY, Flickr, and so much more.<\/li>\n
    8. Notes<\/strong> \u2013 Add any notes here, which will be displayed in \u201cPresenter View.\u201d<\/li>\n
    9. Pages<\/strong> \u2013 This shows the total number of pages in your project and which page number you\u2019re currently working on.<\/li>\n
    10. Add page<\/strong> \u2013 Click this button to add additional pages to your project.<\/li>\n
    11. Show\/hide pages<\/strong> \u2013 Click this little arrow to show or hide the pages in your project along with a small screenshot of each page.<\/li>\n
    12. View and resize<\/strong> \u2013 In this section, you can adjust the zoom, put the pages in \u201cGrid View,\u201d and turn the full-screen mode on for presentations.<\/li>\n
    13. Help<\/strong> \u2013 Click this button if you need any help while creating your designs.<\/li>\n
    14. Canvas<\/strong> \u2013 This is where all the magic happens. In addition to using this area to design, you can lock the current page, duplicate the page, add a page (like #10 above), and comments to the page you\u2019re working on.<\/li>\n
    15. Share<\/strong> \u2013 Clicking this button will give you options to download your design in several formats, share it on social media, turn the design into a QR code, and a lot more.<\/li>\n
    16. Insights<\/strong> \u2013 Here you can view the latest insights for designs you share. You\u2019ll see total views, viewers, engagement, and much more.<\/li>\n
    17. Project collaborators<\/strong> \u2013 You\u2019ll be able to see who on your team is working on the current project.<\/li>\n
    18. Try Canva Pro<\/strong> \u2013 If you have a free account, you\u2019ll see this button, which will allow you to try Canva Pro on a trial.<\/li>\n
    19. Design name<\/strong> \u2013 This is where you name your current project.<\/li>\n
    20. Page animations<\/strong> \u2013 Add animations to your page and bring it to life.<\/li>\n
    21. Other options<\/strong> \u2013 Here you can go to Canva\u2019s home, save your project, view version history, resize your project, undo, redo, and a lot more.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      <\/span>Step 5: Add Images<\/span><\/h3>\n

      Now that you\u2019re familiar with the Canva editor, it\u2019s time to modify the template design for our own purposes. To start, we\u2019ll add an image by first clicking on \u201cApps,\u201d and then clicking on \u201cPhotos.\u201d<\/p>\n

      I like the original image from the template, but I want to include a person in the image. To do this, I search for \u201cperson overlooking mountain\u201d in the \u201cPhotos\u201d tab. When I find one I like, I left-click on it and drag it to the top left corner of my canvas so it overwrites the original image from the template.<\/p>\n

      After doing that, my canvas now looks like this\u2026<\/p>\n

      <\/span>Step 6: Move and Modify Text<\/span><\/h3>\n

      The text is now in a bad spot and needs to be moved. To do so, left-click the mouse, hold, and drag the text to a better location on the design.<\/p>\n

      <\/p>\n

      It\u2019s still difficult to see because of the background image, so the text will need to be a different color or some effects added to make it stand out. For this example, we\u2019ll add a background. To do this, make sure the text is still selected, click \u201cEffects\u201d then choose \u201cBackground.\u201d<\/p>\n

      <\/p>\n

      Stretch the text area if needed by left-clicking one of the sides and dragging your mouse pointer to the desired position. Use the sliders to adjust the:<\/p>\n
