Here are five Christian athletes who are playing in Super Bowl LVII:<\/strong><\/p>\n Photo courtesy: \u00a9Getty Images\/Staff<\/em><\/p>\n The Kansas City starting quarterback credited God moments after his team\u2019s 23-20 victory over Cincinnati in the AFC Championship, saying a back injury nearly prevented him from playing.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanna thank God. He healed my body this week,\u201d he told<\/a> CBS during the national broadcast. \u201cTo battle through that, He gave me the strength to be out here.\u201d<\/p>\n Two years ago, prior to the Chiefs\u2019 Super Bowl game against Tampa Bay, Mahomes said faith was key to his life.<\/p>\n \u201cIt guides you as you know why you\u2019re playing the game,\u201d he told Sports Spectrum<\/a>. \u201cYou know that obviously you want to win, but at the end of the day you\u2019re doing it for something that\u2019s much bigger than yourself, and you\u2019re trying to represent something that\u2019s much bigger than yourself. Cox\/Staff<\/em><\/p>\n Philadelphia’s starting quarterback told<\/a> CBS Sports earlier this year that \u201cGod is everything and He’s worthy of praise.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou have to put Him in the center of everything that you do,\u201d Hurts said. \u201cAnd that’s what I believe. \u2026 I’ve been blessed to grow, learn things, and just mature. And I know, God has been there the whole entire way.\u201d<\/p>\n In September he posted a photo of himself on Instagram<\/a> in an Eagles uniform, kneeling in prayer. Hurts wrote, \u201cHe Who Kneels Before God, Can Stand Before Any Man.\u201d His Instagram bio reads, \u201cIn God I Trust.\u201d<\/p>\n After the Eagles\u2019 win over San Francisco in the NFC Championship, Hurts quoted Scripture during a post-game news conference.<\/p>\n \u201cI went through a lot of stuff in college and it kind of stuck with me \u2013 John 13:7<\/a>. \u2018You may not know now but later you will understand.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Hurts called it his \u201cfavorite verse.\u201d<\/p>\n Photo courtesy: \u00a9Getty Images\/Mitchell Leff\/Stringer<\/em><\/p>\n The Eagles\u2019 starting receiver was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2019 but traded prior to the 2022 season to the Eagles.<\/p>\n He led<\/a> Philadelphia this season in receiving yards.<\/p>\n \u201cI had plans and God had other plans,\u201d Brown told Sports Spectrum<\/a>. \u201cI try not to lean on my own understanding. I read the Bible a lot because that\u2019s how I fight my problems. I\u2019m not trying to stand up here and be a perfect guy because I\u2019m not; nobody is. I\u2019ve been doing it since I was young, and so it\u2019s getting confidence from these guys to come in every single day and let me put my best foot forward by giving me that confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n During Super Bowl week, Bolton said he felt blessed.<\/p>\n \u201cJust a lot of gratitude \u2026 how much I\u2019ve grown as a person, as an individual, a football player, a teammate, a follower of Christ,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Photo courtesy: \u00a9Getty Images\/Rob Carr\/Staff<\/em><\/p>\n The Philadelphia starting linebacker led<\/a> the team in total tackles (159) and solo tackles (99) this season.<\/p>\n \u201cI’m a believer and everything I do is for Him,\u201d Edwards told Sports Spectrum during Super Bowl week, adding that it\u2019s \u201cjust a blessing to be here where we are today.
