Following her time-and-space-bending performance in \u201cEverything Everywhere All At Once,\u201d Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu will be occupying a different universe this summer in the new comedy \u201cJoy Ride.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film, helmed by \u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d co-writer Adele Lim and produced by Seth Rogen and the creators of \u201cNeighbors,\u201d follows a group of four friends as they travel together across Asia. Hsu plays Kat, an American college student turned Chinese soap star, who joins her friend Audrey (Ashley Park) after her business trip goes awry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Audrey\u2019s \u201chot mess\u201d childhood friend Lolo (Sherry Cola) and Lolo\u2019s cousin Deadeye (Sabrina Wu) come to her side, too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Together, the unlikely group embarks on a journey of self-discovery and debauchery that bonds them for life, according to Lionsgate\u2019s first release on the R-rated project, to be released at the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas, in March.<\/p>\n

Park is a prolific actor known for \u201cEmily in Paris\u201d and \u201cMr. Malcolm\u2019s List.\u201d Cola, who has starred in projects like \u201cGood Trouble\u201d and \u201cTurning Red,\u201d and Wu, a writer and comedian, have been forces in queer, Asian comedic spaces for years.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve simply never seen Asian leads on the big screen, in this way \u2014 period!\u201d Cola told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s a fun, R-rated, touching, culturally specific, unapologetic, in-your-face film. You\u2019ll get humor, heart, and horniness. It\u2019s truly a good time from start to finish. Everyone in the audience will be picking up their jaws from the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n

The cast will also include Ronny Chieng (\u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d), Desmond Chiam (\u201cThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier\u201d), Alexander Hodge (\u201cInsecure\u201d) and Chris Pang (\u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d).<\/p>\n

\u201cJoy Ride\u201d will be released in theaters June 23.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
