Hopefully, you don\u2019t fix it for a couple of days. Need a well-needed break,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sweatyshirt\/status\/1618158253858508800?s=20&#038;t=dol6UHvE0r1o60KvTEDJVA\">said one user<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, it is unclear how widespread the outage is from a geographical perspective, although the Downdetector website does state that users in India, Japan, Australia and the United Arab Emirates have also logged issues with the platform.<\/p>\n<p>News of the outage comes just under a week since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.computerweekly.com\/news\/252529365\/How-the-cost-of-living-crisis-is-impacting-IT\">Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed the company would need to cut the size of its workforce by 10,000 people in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re living through times of significant change. When I think about this moment in time, the start of 2023, it\u2019s showtime \u2013 for our industry and for Microsoft,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat means every one of us and every team across the company must raise the bar and perform better than the competition to deliver meaningful innovation that customers, communities and countries can truly benefit from. If we deliver on this, we will emerge stronger and thrive long into the future; it\u2019s as simple as that.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div>\n<figure>\n   \u201cOne of the biggest problems with using centralised platforms like Teams is that when it goes down, you have put all your eggs in one basket: your critical conversations have been held hostage in a single system, with a single point of failure\u201d<br \/>\n  <\/figure><figcaption>\n   <strong>Matthew Hodgson, Element<\/strong><br \/>\n  <\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Computer Weekly contacted Microsoft for further clarification on the incident and when it hopes to have it resolved by, but \u2013 at the time of writing \u2013 no response had been forthcoming.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Matthew Hodgson, co-founder of decentralised and secure collaboration and messaging platform Element, said outages like the one suffered by Microsoft meant users may default to using consumer-grade messaging services that could put their company data at risk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.techtarget.com\/searchunifiedcommunications\/news\/252480113\/Coronavirus-Microsoft-Teams-outage-disrupts-remote-working?_gl=1*pmrya1*_ga*MTc3MzYyNjg3OS4xNjYwMTIzMTU4*_ga_TQKE4GS5P9*MTY3NDYzNzYxMi4zMzQuMS4xNjc0NjM5MTkxLjAuMC4w&#038;_ga=2.147654007.150075600.1674553501-1773626879.1660123158\">Teams regularly suffers major service interruptions<\/a>, which forces businesses to fall back on cumbersome email \u2013 except now, Outlook has also failed.
