Citing the developer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/Huawei-AppGallery-a-developer-s-report-of-a-bug-that-might-allow-paid-apps-to-be-downloaded-for-free-goes-unaddressed-for-weeks.621531.0.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Dylan Roussel<\/a>, <i>9to5Google <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5google.com\/2023\/01\/23\/android-14-block-install-outdated-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">asserts<\/a> that Google intends to leave older apps behind by amending the impending OS upgrade&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/Apple-and-Google-collaborate-on-a-new-API-to-help-track-Covid-19-transmission.461032.0.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">API<\/a> requirement level in a way that better enforces compatibility with newer Android versions.\n<\/p>\n<p>The new requirements may not be that extreme at first, only allowing new installs of apps that target <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/Android-10-is-still-the-most-widely-used-version-of-its-OS-although-11-is-catching-up.581087.0.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Android 6.x<\/a> (Marshmallow) or newer, although this criterion will progressively exclude targets until <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/Teclast-M40-Pro-2023-launched-with-Android-12-and-performance-improvements.687084.0.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Android 12<\/a> is the oldest approved version.\n<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, users who want or need to use apps that are no longer under development may no longer be able to download them through the Google <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notebookcheck.net\/Bigme-Galy-8-inch-eReader-launches-with-colour-display-and-Google-Play-Store-access.669163.0.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Play Store<\/a> soon enough.
