Jacobs is principle designer for airfield works.<\/p>\n<p>Vanderlande has been appointed as principle contractor for the baggage systems. The terminal\u2019s new hold baggage system will be able to handle more than 5,000 bags per hour, more than doubling its current capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The project team also includes:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"adid2094\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/redirect\/campaign\/12109\/\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/redirect\/campaign\/12109\/\" title=\"Related Information\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\" alt=\"Related Information\" src=\"\/assets\/adverts\/42371-1672736288-ULTIPATCH_POTHOLE_728x90_3 (1).jpg\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Pascall and Watson as principle architect<\/li>\n<li>Turner &#038; Townsend as cost consultant<\/li>\n<li>Buro Happold as structural engineer<\/li>\n<li>Hoare Lea as mechanical and electrical consultant. and<\/li>\n<li>Atkins as aviation security in airport development (ASIAD) consultant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Enabling works are already under way.<\/p>\n<p>On completion, expected in 2025, around 80% of all passengers will use the expanded Terminal 2, with Terminal 1 set to close.<\/p>\n<p>More than 500 jobs will be created in the construction phase alone, MAG said.<\/p>\n<p>Chief executive Charlie Cornish said: \u201cManchester Airport is a key economic asset for the North, and this investment will maximise the contribution it makes to creating a balanced and globally competitive UK economy.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/assets\/news_articles\/2023\/01\/1674635180_retail-premiumhighstreet.png\" title=\"There'll be more shops too\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/img-cache\/d7a633f5d04f80baf6201fd9c2312e15\/560x315_1674635180_retail-premiumhighstreet.png\" data-old-src=\"https:\/\/www.theconstructionindex.co.uk\/img-cache\/d7a633f5d04f80baf6201fd9c2312e15\/320x180_1674635180_retail-premiumhighstreet.png\" ><\/a><figcaption>There&#8217;ll be more shops too<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cOur \u00a31.3bn transformation programme demonstrates our long-term commitment to providing a great airport experience for passengers who travel through Manchester.
