Aside from some cuts, Glover Teixeira has no serious injuries from his fight against Jamahal Hill at UFC 283 this past Saturday. <\/p>\n

The former UFC light heavyweight champion lost<\/a> to Hill by unanimous decision after being battered throughout five rounds. He survived, but Teixeira suffered two (or more?) cuts in the process, requiring a visit to the hospital for much-needed stitches. <\/p>\n

Though his manager \u2014 Jorge Guimar\u00e3es \u2014 shared a photo of Teixeira with most of his face covered in gauze, his injuries were minimal. In an update provided to Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting<\/a>, Guimar\u00e3es said his client has \u2018only cuts\u2019 and \u2018a little injury to the nose\u2019 after the fight. <\/p>\n

In his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier<\/a>, the Brazilian announced his retirement<\/a> from mixed martial arts, ending a nearly 21-year career that saw successful stints in WEC, Shooto and UFC. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019m too tough for my own good,\u201d said Teixeira. \u201cToo tough for my own health. I can\u2019t keep up anymore. I\u2019m going to focus my energy on Alex Pereira, on \u2018Po Atan\u2019. He\u2019s going to keep his belt for a while then go up to light heavyweight. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to put the gloves down on the same night as [Mauricio] Shogun [Rua],\u201d continued Teixeira. \u201cI wish we were in the Royce Gracie era where you just go no rounds and keep going. But we\u2019re not, and I just can\u2019t keep up anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n
