Allegedly, three men exited the car and told a security guard: \u201cYou won\u2019t be able to keep us out,\u201d the attorneys claimed in a Manhattan federal court filing on Thursday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Security news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Ransomware payments are down 40%, with attackers extorting at least $456.8 million in funds in 2022, compared to $765.6 million in 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.chainalysis.com\/reports\/crypto-ransomware-revenue-down-as-victims-refuse-to-pay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to a new report by blockchain forensics firm <strong>Chainalysis<\/strong>. &#8220;That doesn&#8217;t mean attacks are down, or at least not as much as the drastic dropoff in payments would suggest,&#8221; it said. &#8220;Instead, we believe that much of the decline is due to victim organizations increasingly refusing to pay ransomware attackers.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Adoption news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Crypto is now the second most widely owned asset class for women after cash, \u201csuggesting it is succeeding where traditional financial markets have sometimes failed in bringing more women to the table,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.etoro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/ETORO-RIB-JANUARY.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> an <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/etoro\/\"><strong>eToro<\/strong><\/a> report. The female ownership of crypto jumped from 29% in Q3 to 34% in Q4 2022, whilst men saw only a 1 percentage point rise from 42% to 43% of the surveyed investors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Investment news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Global offshore law firm <strong>Harneys<\/strong> acted as Cayman Islands counsel to <strong>HashKey Capital<\/strong>, a global asset manager specializing in blockchain and crypto, on the successful $500 million closing of its third fund, HashKey FinTech Investment Fund III, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harneys.com\/news-and-deals\/harneys-advises-on-us-500-million-crypto-fund-of-hashkey-capital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> a press release. The \u201cnew fund will further advance crypto and blockchain initiatives worldwide, with a focus on emerging markets,\u201d it added.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Xclaim<\/strong>, an independent trading platform for cryptoassets locked by bankruptcy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/xclaim-has-listed-over-200-million-of-crypto-customer-accounts-on-its-global-marketplace-for-crypto-bankruptcy-claims-301725327.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that thousands of customers of several bankrupt crypto exchanges, including <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/ftx\/\"><strong>FTX<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/blockfi\/\"><strong>BlockFi<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/celsius-network\/\"><strong>Celsius<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/voyager-digital\/\"><strong>Voyager<\/strong><\/a>, have listed their accounts for sale, representing more than $200 million of cryptoassets. Upon completion, the new phase will add up to 2.2 exahashes per second (EH\/s) of computing power to the company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/mining\/\">mining<\/a> capacity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>DeFi news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Layer 1 blockchain <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/fantom\/\"><strong>Fantom<\/strong><\/a> launched a decentralized funding mechanism to finance blockchain projects through a community-driven governance process.
