{"id":597815,"date":"2023-01-15T14:50:33","date_gmt":"2023-01-15T20:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.sellorbuyhomefast.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/15\/18-storey-central-london-tower-set-for-approval\/"},"modified":"2023-01-15T14:50:33","modified_gmt":"2023-01-15T20:50:33","slug":"18-storey-central-london-tower-set-for-approval","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/15\/18-storey-central-london-tower-set-for-approval\/","title":{"rendered":"18-storey central London tower set for approval"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ca.emap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2023\/01\/Make-Blackfriars-tower.jpg\"   alt=\"Make-Blackfriars-tower.jpg\">        <\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Southwark Council is set to approve plans for an 18-storey office tower by Blackfriars Bridge in central London after planning officers backed the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cconcept workplace\u201d building will be part of the \u00a31bn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/buildings\/london-bankside-1bn-project-ramps-up-with-design-deals-12-05-2020\/\">Bankside Yards<\/a> regeneration project designed by Make and PLP, reports <em>Construction News<\/em>\u2019s sister title the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.architectsjournal.co.uk\/news\/makes-18-storey-blackfriars-tower-set-for-approval\">Architects\u2019 Journal<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The developer on the scheme, which has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/uncategorised\/nine-block-south-bank-scheme-gets-green-light-09-10-2013\/\">proposed for a decade<\/a>, is Native Land.<\/p>\n<p>The office tower will stand on the former site of Ludgate House, a 1980s office block formerly occupied by the\u00a0Daily Express\u00a0newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>It will contain 7,900 square metres\u00a0of office floor space, with corner cut-outs providing double-height outdoor amenity space looking over for occupants. The building will have its service core at the south, overlooking the River Thames, which it fronts.<\/p>\n<p>The plans replace an earlier proposal for a smaller 14-storey residential building on the site but planners at Southwark Council said the tower would still be \u201cmodestly sized\u201d with a \u201crelatively compact form\u201d, pointing out that it would provide a step down from a 49-storey building that has been approved immediately to the south.<\/p>\n<p>Officers recommended the scheme for approval at Southwark\u2019s planning committee on Tuesday (17 January), saying that the 18-storey scheme was supported on the \u201chighly connected brownfield site\u201d and that it could provide up to 800 jobs on the site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe design of the new building is considered to be of the highest quality and will make a substantial, positive contribution to the skyline of London and the cluster of tall buildings at the northern end of Blackfriars Road,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Make and Native Land have been contacted for comment.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h3>Related articles<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/buildings\/18-storey-central-london-tower-set-for-approval-13-01-2023\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Will Ing<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Southwark Council is set to approve plans for an 18-storey office tower by Blackfriars Bridge in central London after planning officers backed the scheme.
