This means that, once again, games are the biggest home entertainment industry in the UK (thanks, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/era-games-remained-biggest-home-entertainment-industry-in-the-uk-in-2022\">GamesIndustry.biz<\/a>).\n<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>The Eurogamer Newscast News Quiz of the Year 2022!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\nMost of this preliminary figure is made up by digital game sales, which according to ERA are estimated to represent around \u00a34.17bn in revenue. This is a rise of 3.1 percent year-on-year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nPhysical game sales for 2022, on the other hand, saw a decline of 4.5 percent, coming in at a comparatively modest \u00a3488m.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nMeanwhile, physical software sales accounted for 10 percent of the sector in 2022.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;Gaming remains the often-unheralded leader of the entertainment market,&#8221; ERA head Kim Bayley stated.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;While growth at 2.3 percent was lower than that of video or music, its scale is enormous and in terms of innovation and excitement it continues to set the pace for the entire entertainment sector.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\nIn 2022, the entire UK home entertainment market (which includes music and video as well as game sales) is estimated to have reached \u00a311.1bn in revenue.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nEven though the gaming sector made more money overall, the fastest growing industry across the board was that of video.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nERA will consolidate these preliminary figures in March.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/video-games-made-an-estimated-466-billion-last-year-biggest-home-entertainment-industry-in-the-uk\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Victoria Kennedy<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you click on a link and make a purchase we may receive a small commission.
