As part of a broader financial sector reform, the <strong>Financial Services Authority<\/strong> will assume regulatory power over the assets over the next two years, by which time the exchange should be set up, the <strong>Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency<\/strong> said.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/india\/\">India<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/tax\/\">tax<\/a> rules on crypto, which went into effect last April, have pushed traders to foreign exchanges. Companies like <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/binance\/\"><strong>Binance<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/coinbase\/\"><strong>Coinbase<\/strong><\/a> got 67.6% of the crypto market share in India as of October 2022, up from 50% in November 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5bcef7b429f2cc38df3862f5\/t\/63b3e553ad8cdb68e72eed40\/1672734043690\/230103_Esya_Centre_Special_Issue_VDA_Taxation_Architecture.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to a report by New Delhi-based think tank <strong>Esya<\/strong>. Indian exchanges including <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/wazirx\/\"><strong>WazirX<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>CoinSwitch<\/strong>, and <strong>CoinDCX<\/strong> lost 81% of their trading volume between July and October, Esya said.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Crime news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/uk\/\">UK<\/a>\u2019s <strong>National Crime Agency<\/strong> is recruiting a group of law enforcement officers to investigate crypto crimes. \u201cThe <strong>NCCU Crypto Cell<\/strong> will be dedicated to a proactive cryptocurrency remit with the right tools and capabilities to target UK based subjects along with supporting colleagues with specialist advice and guidance,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk\/csr\/jobs.cgi?jcode=1828644\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> a job advert posted on the government&#8217;s website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Regulation news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Three US regulators \u2013 the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/federal-reserve\/\"><strong>Federal Reserve<\/strong><\/a>, the <strong>Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation<\/strong> (FDIC), and the <strong>Office of the Comptroller of the Currency<\/strong> (OCC) \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalreserve.gov\/newsevents\/pressreleases\/files\/bcreg20230103a1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issued<\/a> a joint statement on cryptoasset risks to <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/banking\/\">banking<\/a> organizations. \u201cThe events of the past year have been marked by significant volatility and the exposure of vulnerabilities in the crypto-asset sector,\u201d it said. The \u201ckey risks\u201d associated with the sector and its participants, which banking organizations should be aware of, include scams and fraud, legal uncertainties, volatility, contagion risk, etc.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Israeli Securities Authority<\/strong> (ISA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isa.gov.il\/%D7%97%D7%A7%D7%99%D7%A7%D7%94%20%D7%95%D7%90%D7%9B%D7%99%D7%A4%D7%94\/Legislation\/Proposed%20Legislation\/Suggestions\/Documents\/digital.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">proposed<\/a> a framework for regulating digital assets. More specifically, the regulator proposed amendments to three existing financial laws to include digital assets, and once authorized and published, the new crypto laws will be enacted after six months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Legal news<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The law firm of <strong>Kirby McInerney LLP<\/strong> announced that a class action lawsuit had been filed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/usa\/\">US<\/a> \u201con behalf of those who acquired [crypto-friendly bank] <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptonews.com\/tags\/silvergate\/\"><strong>Silvergate Capital Corporation<\/strong><\/a> [\u2026] securities between November 9, 2021 through November 17, 2022,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20230103005839\/en\/Kirby-McInerney-LLP-Reminds-Investors-That-a-Class-Action-Lawsuit-Has-Been-Filed-on-Behalf-of-Silvergate-Capital-Corporation-SI-Investors-and-Encourages-Investors-to-Contact-the-Firm-Before-February-6-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> a press release.
