The latest, \u201csmart city\u201d projects, have much in common with previous iterations. Again and again, these initiatives promise novel \u201csolutions\u201d to urban \u201cproblems.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>After a decade of pilot projects and flashy demonstrations, though, it\u2019s still not clear whether smart city technologies can actually solve or even mitigate the challenges cities face.
