Benedict Cumberbatch’s Hilarious Mother’s Day Tributes on SNL<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Steven Moffat<\/strong><\/a> is ready to get the gang back together.<\/p>\n

The co-creator of Sherlock\u00a0<\/em>told BBC’s Today<\/em> that he would “start writing tomorrow” if stars\u00a0Benedict Cumberbatch<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and Martin Freeman<\/strong><\/a> ever decided to reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, respectively.<\/p>\n

Though Moffat admitted that both\u00a0actors have moved on to\u00a0“bigger and better things,” he still joked, “Martin and Benedict, \u2018Please come back?'”<\/p>\n

Since Sherlock<\/em> ended its run after four seasons in 2017, Cumberbatch earned a second Oscar nomination for\u00a02021’s The Power of the Dog<\/em><\/a> and reprised his role of Doctor Strange in several MCU blockbusters, including 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Freeman, meanwhile, is no stranger to the MCU himself\u2014most recently reprising his role as\u00a0Everett K. Ross in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever<\/em><\/a>. He also currently stars on\u00a0Breeders<\/em>, the FX comedy he co-created, which was renewed\u00a0for a fourth season in July.<\/p>\n

So, yeah, they’ve both been a little busy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

However, despite his packed schedule, Cumberbatch hasn’t ruled out a potential Sherlock<\/em> return.<\/p>\n

“I still say never say never,” he told Esquire<\/em> in November 2021<\/a>. “I really like that character. It’s just, the circumstances need to be right and I think maybe it’s too soon now to see it have another life. I think, wonderful as it is, it’s had its moment for now. But that’s not to say it wouldn’t have another iteration in the future.”<\/p>\n

As Sherlock Holmes has taught us over the years, patience is a virtue!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
