Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and former President Donald Trump\u2019s 2024 senior adviser\u00a0Boris Epshteyn slammed the\u00a0New York Times\u00a0<\/em>on Sunday\u00a0for portraying Trump in a Saturday hit piece as distrustful of the New York state congresswoman, despite the fact Stefanik and Trump speak with one another multiple times a week.<\/p>\n

The Times<\/em> article, which cited<\/a>\u00a0two anonymous sources close to Trump, alleged the former president does not trust Stefanik, a claim\u00a0Stefanik\u2019s team and Trump\u2019s adviser,\u00a0Boris Epshteyn, told Breitbart News was totally fake news.<\/p>\n

Executive director for team Elise,\u00a0Alex Degrasse, characterized Stefanik\u2019s relationship with Trump as completely on solid footing and denied the allegation in the Times<\/em>\u2018 article as simply a \u201clie\u201d from \u201csocialists and their sycophant press stenographers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe middle-aged men of the mainstream media are creepily obsessed with Congresswoman Stefanik and will lie to smear her simply because she is an effective Republican and a champion of President Trump\u2019s agenda,\u201d\u00a0Degrasse told Breitbart News. \u201cWhat the lamestream media doesn\u2019t realize is that their relentless lies and baseless smears only serve as more rocket fuel in Elise\u2019s skyrocketing mission to help Save America from the disastrous reign of Socialists and their sycophant press stenographers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Multiple sources conveyed to Breitbart News that Stefanik and Trump\u2019s relationship is so strong that Trump publicly and privately sings her praises, a fact that directly contradicts the\u00a0Times<\/i>\u2019 reporting by far-left reporter Nicholas Confessore, who used quotes from anonymous sources to attack Stefanik.\n<\/p>\n

Epshteyn and\u00a0Stefanik were not the only Republicans to push back against the hit piece.\u00a0Mike Caputo, who served as an adviser to Trump for over 25 years and is close with\u00a0Stefanik as well, told Breitbart News the Times\u2019<\/em> story was \u201ccanard\u201d and that Trump \u201cadmires\u201d Stefanik for her strength and courage.<\/p>\n

\u201cI read that story and laughed,\u201d Caputo said. \u201cIt\u2019s a canard. President Trump admires people of strength, courage and resolve and I can promise you Elise has his friendship and respect while the anonymous coward who lied about their relationship does not.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mike Davis, founder and president of the pro-Trump Article III Project, echoed\u00a0Caputo\u2019s opinion and noted Trump \u201ctrusts\u201d Stefanik and believes their relationship is \u201cgenuine and strong.\u201d\u00a0Davis also defended\u00a0Stefanik from the Times<\/em>\u2018 anonymously sourced \u201ccriticism and smears.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cElise has been a conservative warrior since we worked together in the Bush 43 White House 17 years ago. Her relationship with President Trump is genuine and strong,\u201d he told Breitbart News. \u201cAs I\u2019ve followed her congressional career, it is clear she has always supported Trump \u2014 and endured endless criticism and smears from the media and Democrats for her fierce loyalty to Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether it was the Access Hollywood drama or two impeachment hoaxes, Elise has always and firmly held the line for Trump. It\u2019s obvious from their very close and public partnership \u2014 for years \u2014 that Trump knows this and trusts her. Anyone claiming otherwise is trying to divide the America First movement for their own personal gain,\u201d Davis said.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Times<\/em>\u00a0has a record of false reporting. Just in December, the\u00a0Times<\/em>\u00a0falsely\u00a0claimed<\/a>\u00a0that Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop was \u201cstolen\u201d from a laptop repair shop. Hunter\u2019s laptop was actually abandoned at a computer repair shop where he had taken it to be repaired by Hunter. It took the\u00a0Times<\/em>\u00a017 months to finally\u00a0report<\/a>\u00a0that Hunter\u2019s laptop was authentic after\u00a0Breitbart News\u2019s Emma-Jo Morris first reported on the laptop story in October 2020.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
