It was an emotional weekend for New Orleans Saints fans after legendary quarterback Drew Brees was officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In attendance for Brees were plenty of former teammates, including former star wideout Michael Thomas.
The official Saints Twitter/X account shared images of the former Offensive Player of the Year at the event and Thomas also shared a heartfelt message to Saints fans, saying, “#WhoDat what a beautiful time we had yesterday. It felt like the Dome all over again in Canton,OH. You guys are so special. I enjoyed meeting each and everyone of you and hearing all your stories of how you guys enjoyed watching me play and letting me know the impact I left on you. It was very heartfelt to say the least. Until we meet again”
Many fans have been questioning the team’s lack of acknowledgement for Thomas, who logged 5,512 yards and 32 touchdowns over his first four seasons in the NFL, including a record breaking 149 reception season that saw the superstar win Offensive Player of the Year in 2019.
The relationship between the two has been rocky since Brees and former head coach Sean Payton departed New Orleans and Thomas finding issue with former head coach Dennis Allen and quarterback Derek Carr.
Despite the strained relationship, Saints fans have continued to show support to the New Orleans legend. With both the Saints sharing the images of Thomas’ and his meaningful message of gratitude to fans, many are hoping that this could be the beginning of steps to mending the relationship.
