“I Used To Gain 100,000 Followers Daily”

  • Peter Okoye has claimed that his social media pages once gained up to 100,000 followers daily before the growth unexpectedly slowed.
  • The singer suggested the change may have happened around the time Psquare reunited, though he acknowledged that he does not know the exact reason behind the decline in follower growth.

Nigerian music star and one-half of the defunct Psquare duo, Peter Okoye, has opened up about what he describes as a sudden slowdown in his social media growth following the group’s reunion.

Speaking during an interview, Peter revealed that there was a period when his social media accounts were experiencing massive growth, with as many as 100,000 new followers joining his page daily.

According to him, he was among the Nigerian celebrities closely monitoring online engagement and influence rankings, competing with some of the country’s biggest entertainment figures.

Peter said the rapid growth unexpectedly stalled around the time Psquare reunited, though he admitted he could not say with certainty what caused the sudden change.

The singer also referenced the highly competitive nature of social media influence among celebrities, noting that entertainers such as Davido and Don Jazzy were among those he paid attention to in terms of online engagement and follower growth.

In other news… Media personality D English Alhaji has sounded the alarm over what he described as the worsening security situation in Nigeria, warning that citizens are no longer safe anywhere in the country.

In a video that has gone viral on X, formerly known as Twitter, he expressed concern over the increasing frequency of attacks, saying Nigerians now face danger at any time of the day.

“Nigerians, it is getting worse. As it stands right now, nobody is safe in this country. No minute is safe. No time is safe. No day is safe. In the morning, afternoon, night they can attack you,” he said.

The media personality alleged that suspected bandits attacked a drilling company in Magun, a community in Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, on June 8, 2026, between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

According to him, the gunmen stormed the Chinese-owned facility, killed a soldier who was on duty, and abducted some workers.

D English Alhaji said the attack took place in broad daylight, describing it as another sign of how emboldened criminal groups have become.

“They don’t enter West. Fully, they don’t enter. We’ve been shouting this thing, people were saying it’s only happening in the North. Now it is now in the West,” he said.

He further claimed that the attackers ran into military personnel while attempting to flee, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

According to him, the confrontation resulted in casualties before the suspects escaped from the scene.
