Every FBS Player in America Has a Draft Grade Now | A Syracuse Student Built the Site That Proves It

If you follow the draft the way Draft Diamonds readers do, you already know the problem. The top 100 names get covered to death while thousands of college football players go through entire careers essentially invisible. No profile, no grade, no story anyone bothered to tell.

Daelan Pinsky, a sport management and sport analytics student at Syracuse University and a former scouting intern for Syracuse Football, spent his summer doing something about it. His site, ScoutSZN (scoutszn.com), launched July 28 and covers every FBS player in America. That’s 15,000+ players across all 138 programs, each with a 0 to 10 grade, a floor and ceiling, full college stats, transfer history, depth chart placement, recruiting background, verified socials, and news.

The idea didn’t come from a business plan. It came from a headache.

“I was building a scouting report for my internship and I found it so tedious,” Pinsky said. “I had to go to so many different sites and try to pull all these data points together. There wasn’t one site that had it all, so I decided to just build it flat out.”

One player from that early work stuck with him: Vincent Firenze, out of FCS Dayton. He transferred to Wake Forest this past offseason.

“I watched a few of his games and he was just an absolute beast all over the field,” Pinsky said. “Then I look up everything and there’s not a lot about him. I was like, you know what? That’s a problem.”

Pinsky has interned at three sports agencies on top of his scouting background, and ScoutSZN sits right where those two worlds collide. Hawaii QB Micah Alejado (7.5), Temple TE Peter Clarke (7.4), and Boise State EDGE Jayden Virgin-Morgan (7.1) all have full profiles with the same treatment as Arch Manning, who sits at 9.6 at the top of the board. He also points to guys like Harvey Dyson, a former highly touted recruit who led the AAC in sacks and is now working on a comeback at NC State, as exactly the type of player who falls through the cracks.

“There’s so many players that just go unnoticed, and it’s so tough to eventually make it to the league, ” Pinsky said. “Having every single kid in all of FBS gives them a platform to show who they are. And if they’re not a fan of their grade, they now have a way to prove themselves.”‘

The site also tracks NIL representation, mapping which of 300+ agencies rep which players, something basically nobody else does publicly. It was also the hardest data to get.

“A lot of college players are reluctant to post about their agency unless it’s a big name,” he said. “For the smaller guys it’s tough. You’re sifting through Instagram and Twitter bios, looking through tagged photos and posts.”

The signature feature is what separates ScoutSZN from every hot take account on your timeline. Before Week 0 on August 28, the entire board freezes. Every grade gets timestampedand locked with a cryptographic hash so nothing can be quietly edited after the fact. In April, the frozen board gets publicly scored against the actual NFL Draft. Hits and misses, both on the record.

That’s also his answer to the obvious question: why should a scout or agent take a college kid’s grades seriously?

“Look, I’m a twenty year old kid in college. Obviously I don’t have the reputation a seasoned scouting vet who’s worked for NFL teams has,” Pinsky said. “But that’s the whole point. Once my grades lock on August 28, it’s going to show the progression of players through the year. There are so many unknowns in football. That’s what makes it exhilarating to evaluate.”

Building it took the whole summer, and there was no team behind it. Just one student grading every player individually and refining a methodology as he went.
