Justin Madugu’s side arrive under serious pressure after a shock 3-2 opening defeat to WAFCON debutants Malawi, a result that ended Nigeria’s long unbeaten record against tournament newcomers.

Zambia, by contrast, arrive full of confidence after a ruthless 6-0 demolition of Egypt, with captain Barbra Banda scoring four of those goals herself.

Nigeria remain without defender Ashleigh Plumptre through injury, and there is added selection pressure in goal, with some supporters calling for Comfort Erhabor to replace Nnadozie after the Malawi defeat.

History favours the Super Falcons, who have won three of the four meetings between the sides and scored 15 goals to Zambia’s one across those encounters, including a 5-0 win the last time they met at the 2024 WAFCON.

Zambia’s emergence as a genuine continental force means this meeting promises to be far closer than that record suggests, with the Copper Queens eager to avenge last year’s heavy defeat.

Stay with us for team news, build-up and live updates as Madugu and Zambia’s coaching staff put their sides to the test.
