One-time Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban has completed a season-long loan move to newly promoted Turkish Süper Lig side Amedspor, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old’s transfer brings to an end a prolonged period of uncertainty surrounding his future at Hoffenheim, with the German club making clear they had no plans to retain him, although his contract at the PreZero Arena runs till the summer of 2029.

Orban spent the 2025/2026 campaign on loan at Italian side Hellas Verona, where he registered seven goals and two assists in 29 appearances but could not prevent the club from suffering relegation from Serie A at the end of the season.

He returned to Hoffenheim before completing his move to the Süper Lig, with Amedspor officially confirming his arrival on Monday.

The transfer presents Orban with an opportunity to rediscover his best form following difficult spells at Lyon and Hoffenheim, and represents Amedspor’s most eye-catching signing since earning promotion to Turkey’s top flight.

Soccer Full breakdown of Gift Orban’s Amedspor move

Orban’s switch is structured as a season-long loan from Hoffenheim, with an option-to-buy clause included that would allow Amedspor to sign him permanently at the end of the arrangement for a fee of €4 million.

The clause is optional rather than mandatory, meaning the Turkish club are under no obligation to complete a permanent deal if they are dissatisfied with his performances during the campaign.

The loan fee has been set at €1 million, with Amedspor covering his wages for the duration of the season.

Per Capology, Orban has accepted a slight reduction in earnings to secure the move, and will earn a base salary of €750,000 annually alongside €190,000 in performance-related bonuses.

That works out at a gross weekly wage of approximately €14,400 excluding bonuses, making him one of the highest earners at the club.

Should Amedspor trigger the purchase option at the end of the loan, Hoffenheim would incur a €5 million loss on a player they signed for €9 million from French Ligue 1 side.
