One of Italy’s most iconic pastry and coffee houses has officially arrived in Budapest. Pasticceria Cova, the historic Milanese brand founded in 1817, has opened its first confectionery in Hungary at the prestigious Matild Palace.
The new venue was inaugurated at a special opening event on 12 June 2026, bringing a touch of Italian elegance and centuries-old pastry-making tradition to the heart of the Hungarian capital.
Established near Milan’s famous Teatro alla Scala, Cova has become a global symbol of refined hospitality, artisanal confectionery and Italian café culture. Over the past two centuries, the brand has expanded to major international destinations including Hong Kong, Monte-Carlo and Paris. With the opening of its Budapest location, Hungary has now joined Cova’s growing international network.
Among the distinguished guests at the launch was Paola Faccioli, CEO and co-owner of Pasticceria Cova, who continues her family’s long-standing involvement with the renowned brand while helping drive its international expansion.
Located within the historic Matild Palace, the new confectionery aims to bring together classic Italian coffee-house traditions, premium pastries and luxury hospitality in one of Budapest’s most elegant settings.
