Obsidian Is Officially Making a New Fallout Game

The Outer Worlds and Avowed studio Obsidian Entertainment is working on a new Fallout game, it’s now been officially confirmed.

Reliable rumours pointed to this being the case in the wake of Xbox’s latest wave of layoffs and a reset of the business, but it’s now been made public by Bethesda. A social media post shared:

The wasteland continues to expand as we team up once again with our longtime friends at Obsidian Entertainment. We’re happy to confirm they’re working with us on a new Fallout project. We’ll have more to share in the future.

As part of the announcement, remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas were also revealed.

Obsidian is best known for Fallout: New Vegas, which it made at a rapid pace during the PS3 generation after Fallout 3 came out.

Since then, the team has created experiences similar to it, but hasn’t quite replicated that kind of success. Now, it has the chance to officially return to the wasteland with its own game again. While it’s not confirmed in the Bethesda post, it’s suggested a sequel to Avowed had to be left to one side in order for this to happen.
