Today, his success story is not being written in an office tower or corporate boardroom, but across 61 acres of rolling countryside where hundreds of pigs roam freely.

The Kenyan-born farmer has built a thriving pig farming enterprise in Hampshire, turning a passion for agriculture into a business that is attracting attention both in Britain and back home in Kenya.

Together with his partner, Nikki, and their son, Noah, Obiero runs a family farm specialising in traditional Tamworth pigs.

Unlike many commercial pig producers who rely heavily on intensive housing systems and costly feed inputs, the family has adopted a pasture-based approach that allows the animals to forage naturally.

The model has become increasingly relevant at a time when pig farmers around the world are grappling with soaring feed prices, disease outbreaks and rising production costs.

By allowing pigs to graze and root through pasture, Obiero has significantly reduced dependence on expensive imported feed while also improving soil health and encouraging biodiversity on the farm.

What began as a farming venture has grown into a diversified business. In addition to selling premium pork directly to customers, the family also generates income through on-farm catering, creating multiple revenue streams and helping shield the business from market fluctuations.

The farm’s success has also given Obiero a platform to share his knowledge with others.

In 2026, he partnered with a Kenyan agri-tech platform to train pig farmers across Kenya, offering practical lessons on breeding, feeding and pasture management.

The initiative aims to help farmers increase productivity, improve profitability and adopt more sustainable farming practices.

For many Kenyan farmers facing rising production costs and uncertain markets, the training has provided valuable insights into alternative farming methods that can improve returns while reducing expenses.

Beyond the farm gates, Obiero has built a strong online following through social media, where he regularly shares the realities of modern pig farming.

His content offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into daily farm life, animal welfare practices and the challenges and rewards of running an agricultural business.

His journey from Kenya to becoming one of the United Kingdom’s most recognised Black pig farmers has resonated with audiences around the world.

At a time when many young people view agriculture as a last resort rather than a career path, Obiero’s story offers a different perspective.

It demonstrates how innovation, hard work and a willingness to embrace sustainable practices can turn farming into a profitable and fulfilling enterprise.

Obiero is proving that agriculture can create wealth, transform communities and inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs to see opportunity where others see challenges.
